Class of 2022 guard Jalen Hood-Schifino has been consistently mentioning Indiana when discussing his top schools recently, and in a few weeks he will visit the IU campus.
According to Rivals national analyst Jamie Shaw, Hood-Schifino has set up the following visits for the month of June: Tennessee, June 5; Georgetown, June 9; Pittsburgh, June 16; and Indiana, June 28.
Hood-Schifino is the No. 26 overall player in the 2022 class according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. He’s ranked No. 5 among combo guards and No. 6 overall in the state of Florida, where he attends Montverde Academy. He helped Montverde win the 2021 GEICO Nationals.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Hood-Schifino is a big guard at 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds. 247Sports national analyst Eric Bossi wrote last month about Hood-Schifino’s game.
“Hood-Schifino has tremendous size for a guard and is highly versatile,” Bossi said. “He’s a playmaker who can play the point, he can guard multiple positions, he is smart with the ball and he can score in the lane and with the jump shot.”
For AAU basketball, Hood-Schifino is playing for Team CP3 on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Hood-Schifino originally committed to Pittsburgh in December, 2019, and then had a change of heart in 2020. Former IU head coach Archie Miller offered him in September, and assistant Kenya Hunter has continued the recruitment through the coaching change. New head coach Mike Woodson made Hood-Schifino a priority upon taking the job in late March.
“Indiana has been coming hard too. They want me to come in and be me — you know, play my game, get the ball out and go,” Hood-Schifino told Rivals’ Rob Cassidy a couple weeks ago.
