UPDATE: Mgbako is announcing on Friday
———————
It’s down to two for 2023 5-star Mackenzie Mgbako.
Andrew Slater is reporting the top-10 forward will choose between Indiana and Kansas.
IU ended up with the final official visit for the New Jersey native. He came to Bloomington over the weekend after a visit to Kansas. Slater had previously reported Mgbako had a visit to Louisville scheduled for this weekend, but obviously that is no longer happening.

Mgbako originally committed to Duke a year ago before asking out of his national letter of intent in April. He was a 2023 McDonald’s All-American and averaged 16.3 points and 9.2 rebounds in 16 games while earning All-State honors this season.
Mgbako played at Roselle Catholic High School in Gladstone, New Jersey. He is a 5-star according to the On3 Consensus, and the No. 8 overall player in the 2023 class.
The 6-foot-8 combo forward also visited St. John’s since decommitting but will now focus on the Hoosiers and Jayhawks. One way or another he’ll be playing in a Dec. 16 matchup between the two schools.
Mgbako would be a leading candidate to fill the opening for starters minutes at the small forward spot for Indiana. He can also play the four.
It shouldn’t be long before Mgbako makes a final decision. Indiana freshmen are reporting to Bloomington on June 1. The Hoosiers currently have point guard Gabe Cupps and combo guard Jakai Newton in their 2023 class.
