The Indiana staff managed to get class of 2023 5-star forward Xavier Booker down to Bloomington for an unofficial visit on Wednesday.
It looks like they made a strong impression.
In a Saturday report by On3, Booker had very positive things to say about IU after playing at an event in Kentucky in front of head coach Mike Woodson any many others.
“I feel like I’d fit in perfectly there,” Booker told On3. “I have a good relationship with all the coaches, the academics are really good. I like their coaching style, playing style. I can definitely see a fit there.”
That’s the good news.
But Booker’s profile has risen about as high as a recruitment can go in recent months.
There’s been offers from Duke and Gonzaga, Kansas and Michigan State offered a while ago and are in the mix, and Kentucky is taking a very close look too.
Those five programs are just some of the more prominent names. The On3 report does a good job of providing the current lay of the land in Booker’s own words. He has dozens of high major suitors, and soon he’ll have to distill the list down to five officials visits for his senior year.
Based on Booker’s own words, the IU staff seems to have put the program in a good position to earn one of those final five spots. From there, it’s anyone’s guess.
