There has been at least one case of recruiting disruption in the aftermath of Indiana’s change at offensive coordinator.
Class of 2024 tight end Hubert Caliste announced he’s reopened his recruitment.
The 6-foot-4 and 235 pound Caliste is currently ranked a 3-star according to the 247Sports Composite, and he’s the No. 52 tight end nationally in the class.
According to On3, IU’s 2024 class ranks No. 60 nationally and No. 17 in the Big Ten.
Indiana currently has 17 verbal commits going into the December early signing period. Head coach Tom Allen says the program may take up to a few more commits from the high school senior class.
“You know I’m thinking in the 18 to 20-ish range is where you’re at,” Allen said this week. “And once again the portal becomes utilized to offset any departures you might have that you either expect or didn’t expect and to be able to keep the rooms balanced.
“And we have certain positions where we say we need to be able to get this many high school guys to develop those guys and have the right distribution of age within a position group.
“So I think we’re really close to where we want to be from a high school number, which is higher than a lot of people are choosing to go right now.”
