Indiana is talking with class of 2024 center Patrick Ngongba about taking an official visit to Bloomington according to a report by Jamie Shaw of On3 from the weekend.
The 6-foot-10 Virginia product has been one of the biggest risers in the 2024 class this spring. He’s now a consensus top-40 prospect nationally in the class across On3, Rivals and 247Sports. IU offered Ngongba in early May after he posted multiple strong showings in Nike EYBL circuit action.
Ngongba told Shaw that IU has been talking to him a lot about how they utilized first team All-American Trayce Jackson-Davis under Mike Woodson.
Playing for Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL, Ngongba is averaging 12.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks on 70.3 percent shooting from the field.
Both Indiana and Duke are recruiting Ngongba and 2024 5-star Flory Bidunga, which sets up an interesting dynamic. Bidunga took an official visit to Duke last week and some believe he’s highly likely to end up being a Blue Devil. Ngongba visited Duke a couple weeks ago, and it’s unlikely both would play there. Of course there are other schools after both players as well.
The Hoosiers have also been a consistent top contender in the recruitment of 2024 5-star center Derik Queen, battling mainly against Maryland. Bidunga, Queen and Ngongba form IU’s trio of primary big men prospects for the rising senior class. Queen and Ngongba are more similar, bringing a lot of school to the floor, while Bidunga has elite athleticism and a motor that never lets up. Indiana would be doing very well if they land any one of the three talented prospects.
Ngongba has taken official visits to Kansas State, UConn, Duke, and Providence so far. Along with IU, Ngongba says Iowa and Virginia are pushing for him to visit.
A Paul VI Catholic H.S. product in the Washington D.C. metro area, Ngongba is planning a list cut by the end of June.
