One of the first phone calls new IU basketball coach Darian DeVries made on Tuesday was to class of 2025 signee Trent Sisley.
Sisley told The Daily Hoosier that call came about 30 minutes after the news broke DeVries would be the new head coach in Bloomington.
And after originally committing to the program and signing in the fall when Mike Woodson was still head coach, Sisley let DeVries know he’s keeping his commitment to the Hoosiers.
Sisley’s father Matt told TDH Thursday evening the family is familiar with DeVries because his older son Blake played against Drake multiple times. The toughness of DeVries’ teams stood out the Sisleys.
The Santa Claus, Ind. and former Heritage Hills H.S. product is currently IU’s lone recruit in the 2025 class. And he’s a solid foundational piece for the new DeVries era. According to the On3 Industry Average, the 6-foot-7 Sisley is a 4-star recruit and the No. 77 overall player in the 2025 class.
Sisley transferred to national prep powerhouse Montverde Academy ahead of his senior year. In 26 games at Montverde thus far, Sisley is averaging 10.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in 18.5 minutes per contest. He shooting 64% from the field overall, including 47% from 3-point range on 45 attempts.
Matt Sisley said IU AD Scott Dolson helped bridge the gap with the family as the program transitioned from Mike Woodson to DeVries. The Sisley family had a Zoom with DeVries Thursday evening and plans to go to Bloomington next week to meet with DeVries in person.
DeVries hasn’t had a chance to watch Sisley play in person but the recruiting calendar should allow him to do so on April 2 when Montverde plays in Indiana. Sisley will be playing in the Indianapolis area in early April in connection with the Chipotle Nationals. The national prep school finals will be held April 2-5, 2025 at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, Ind.
Sisley’s senior season highlights are below.
