As we’ve reported on multiple occasions, Indiana has been running at or near the front of the pack for class of 2024 5-star forward Liam McNeeley a few months now.
But it’s always notable when the national outlets chime in with confirmatory views.
On the latest edition of the 247Sports’ College Basketball Recruiting Weekly podcast, national recruiting analyst Eric Bossi did just that as it relates to the Montverde Academy top-10 forward.
“McNeeley is a guy that I think they’ve (Indiana) emerged as a clear leader for,” Bossi said. “Texas and some of the other schools are in there, but I really like the chances for Indiana with him.”

The 6-foot-7 McNeeley will take a second official visit to Indiana Sept. 8-10. That certainly appears to be a visit where IU has a chance to earn a commitment at some point this fall from the Texas native, but he’ll likely take more visits.
Joining McNeeley for a second official visit to IU that same weekend will be 5-star big man Derik Queen. The Montverde teammates visited together in September of 2022 as well.
While the second visit from Queen certainly bodes well for Indiana, the national 247Sports crew says four schools are still in connection for the Maryland native.
“Houston, Maryland and Indiana are the favorites with no clear cut leader,” 247Sports national analyst Travis Branham said on the same podcast.
While IU has been Queen’s only reported visit to this point, Branham says Queen plans on visiting Houston and Maryland as well. He also said Kansas could also be a factor despite the fact that they’ve added 2024 5-star Flory Bidunga.
One other 2024 5-star IU is recruiting was discussed. Branham said Duke and Rutgers continue to be the top contenders for combo guard Dylan Harper.
In addition to the visits by McNeeley and Queen on Sept. 8, IU is expecting official visits by top-50 class of 2024 prospects Curtis Givens on Sept. 8, Austin Swartz on Sept. 14, and Annor Boateng on Sept. 29.
