Indiana picked up a commitment from 5-star class of 2022 forward Malik Reneau on Monday.
“Lock in. 110% committed,” Reneau wrote in a Twitter post.
The 6-foot-8 and 215-pound Reneau is a 5-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 28 player in nation in the 2022 class, and the No. 4 power forward. A former Florida signee, Reneau took an official visit to Bloomington over the weekend. He decommitted from the Gators after head coach Mike White resigned.
With the addition of Reneau, Indiana’s 2022 class has moved into the top-5 nationally according to the 247Sports Composite, and first in the Big Ten. He joins Jalen Hood-Schifino, Kaleb Banks, and C.J. Gunn in the Hoosiers’ incoming freshman class.
Playing for Montverde Academy, Reneau averaged 11.9 points and 6.6 rebounds this past season, including 14.3 points and 8.3 rebounds at the GEICO High School Nationals, where he and fellow IU classmate Jalen Hood-Schifino won a second straight prep school national title. Hood-Schifino joined Reneau on his weekend visit to IU.
The addition of Reneau tentatively fills Indiana’s allotment of 13 scholarships, pending the decision of Trayce Jackson-Davis, who has put his name in the NBA Draft but is eligible to return.
Stay tuned for more coverage of this commitment.
