Every win is big for an Indiana team vying for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Wednesday night’s victory over Minnesota was not always pretty, but IU took care of business on their home floor. The Hoosiers defeated the Minnesota 72-67 at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana in what was a tightly contested game throughout. The largest lead by either team was 11 by Indiana when they were up 71-60 with under a minute remaining. With the game knotted at 54 apiece with 8:19 remaining in the second half, IU took control after a Joey Brunk layup sparked a 9-1…

In what was an important road game for Indiana to look to continue to build momentum, the struggles against in-state rival Purdue continued. Indiana lost 57-49 on Thursday night at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Ind. and it has now lost 10 of their last 11 games against the Boilermakers. IU kept the game close for the majority of the first half. However, after Armaan Franklin made a three-pointer with 3:44 left to cut Purdue’s lead to 19-18, the Boilermakers ended the half on a 10-2 run to take a 29-20 lead into the locker room. The half ended on…
Sitting on the bubble and battling for a bid to the NCAA Tournament, Indiana gave their postseason resume a big boost by beating No. 9 Penn State on Sunday afternoon. IU knocked off the Nittany Lions 68-60 at Assembly Hal in what was a tightly contested game down the stretch. The formula for coming away victorious was very similar to the game plan against the Golden Gophers, which was to get the ball inside to Trayce Jackson-Davis and control the paint. As a result, the floor became more spaced out and opened up opportunities for good looks from the perimeter.…
Battling for a bid to the NCAA Tournament, Indiana did something that they had only done once prior to tonight. They won a road game, this time against a Minnesota team who is also fighting for their tournament lives. IU knocked off the Golden Gophers 68-56 with a strong effort over the final 30 minutes at Williams Arena on Wednesday night. A big reason why Indiana was successful against Minnesota was the play of freshman forward Trayce Jackson-Davis and redshirt sophomore forward Race Thompson. Coming off a game where he only attempted three shots in the Hoosiers 89-65 loss at…
Indiana has had several forgettable performances on the road this season. Sunday at Michigan was just the latest example as the Hoosiers lost 89-65 at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor. When IU has been at their best this season offensively, they have won the rebounding battle and have gotten to the foul line. That was not the case today. Michigan won the rebounding margin 37 to 21, including a 10 to 7 edge on the offensive glass. Furthermore, Indiana attempted only 12 free throws, making six of them. “It’s not if you lose it’s how you lose, and we…

Indiana has struggled on the road all year, and Saturday afternoon at Ohio State was no different. The performance comes just days after managing only 49 points in a 15 point road loss at Penn State. After putting together three games in a row that showed some signs of improvement offensively, those contests have quickly become a distant memory. In their two road games against Penn State and Ohio State, the Hoosiers shot a…
