It was close. Too close for the Hoosiers in their 56-55 win over the Princeton Tigers. After blowing a 10-point halftime lead, and seeing a last-second shot hit the back of the net, Indiana was fortunate enough to come away with a victory. The Hoosiers shot just 7-of-19 in the second half. They also allowed eight offensive rebounds. But, none of that matters. The name of the game is survive and advance. “As I said to our guys, if I told you that they got 20 more shots than we did and we still won the game, would you believe…

The game was never in question for the Hoosiers in their 85-51 first-round win over Charlotte at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington. The No. 11 team in the nation and the No. 3 team in the Bridgeport region showed early and often why they’ve been ranked accordingly. Chloe Moore-McNeil entered the game and immediately splashed a three-pointer and then drove the lane for a basket. Her quick five points sparked Indiana to go on an 11-1 run to close out the first quarter after a last-second Mackenzie Holmes put back. Then the team picked up where they left off…

The Hoosiers ran out of gas, and it showed.  Indiana came out hot. Parker Stewart started the game off with a three, which seemed like a good omen. Then Trayce Jackson-Davis scored six early points with an early alley-oop from Xavier Johnson. Jordan Geronimo picked up where he left off with a three-pointer and a layup in transition. They were finding ways to score and keeping pace with a St. Mary’s team that ranks No. 9 in adjusted defensive and No. 49 in adjusted offense, per Kenpom.com. A Trey Galloway floater even managed to capture a four-point lead, 21-17. Then Jackson-Davis…

Back in October, Trayce Jackson-Davis was selected to the AP preseason All-American team. He received no such honors when the postseason All-American honors were announced this week.  But now he is starting to play the part, and at the perfect time for Indiana. It has been an up-and-down season not just for the Hoosiers but also for their star forward. He exploded against Marshall for 43 points while breaking the Assembly Hall scoring record. Then he followed it up with a 31-point performance in the losing effort against Syracuse. But then just a week later, Jackson-Davis disappeared on the road…

When Jordan Geronimo hit the floor against Illinois, Hoosier fans held their breath. It seemed as if his season would be cut short. But after three days of rest, Geronimo was able to return from a leg injury and help Indiana win their first NCAA tournament game since March 19, 2016. On Tuesday night in Dayton he had fans gasping in awe at his highlight plays. Not once, not twice, but three times Geronimo used his freakish athleticism to rise above the rim and slam home a dunk. Then he rose again on the other end of the floor. This…

The Hoosiers should have come out of Selection Sunday feeling excited, and they did. But their emotions were a bit more complicated than that. After a successful Big Ten Tournament, the team waited for their name to be called until the very last region was unveiled. Michigan, a team Indiana recently defeated after coming back from a 17-point deficit, was revealed to be safely in the tournament as one of the No. 11 seeds. Then came the Hoosiers. The No. 12 seed and one of the last At-Large bids handed out by the selection committee. Once the team heard of…

March can be fickle. Up by six with under four minutes to play, the Hoosiers seemed to be in prime position to play in their first Big Ten Tournament final since 2001. But the Hawkeyes answered with an and-1 and back-to-back three-pointers to regain the lead. Still, the Hoosiers clawed back to tie up the game after a press led to a turnover and a Xavier Johnson basket. Indiana just needed one defensive stop to get to overtime. They executed perfectly and broke down Iowa’s original game plan. Then March kicked in at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Jordan Bohannon jacked…

Survive and advance. That’s the name of the game. The Hoosiers live to see another day in the Big Ten Tournament after upsetting the No. 1 seed Illinois. With a big win over the Fighting Illini, Indiana now also seems destined for the NCAA Tournament for this first time since 2016. However, their work is not done yet in Indianapolis. “It’s big for us, honestly,” said Trayce Jackson-Davis of the team’s tournament chances. “But what X (avier Johnson) told you guys yesterday, we didn’t pack for two days, we didn’t pack for three days, we packed to win the Big…

Earlier this week on his radio show Indiana head coach Mike Woodson said Trey Galloway’s multiple absences had been a “tremendous loss” for his team. He wasn’t kidding. On Thursday the 6-foot-5 guard was a tremendous addition to IU’s rotation — and that should not have been surprising. In November Galloway suffered a wrist injury going up for a fast-break layup against St. John’s. He missed 10 games rehabbing, and in his first game back provided a major spark with eight points, four assists, and his gritty brand of defense in an upset win over then No. 13 Ohio State.…

The Hoosiers saved their best for last. With the season on the line, Indiana appeared to not come out with enough juice and intensity for a Thursday morning tip in Indianapolis. Michigan took advantage early and went on a 17-3 run courtesy of nine points from Hunter Dickinson. Much like the last matchup with the Wolverines in January, IU had no answers for him. However, basketball is a game of runs and the Hoosiers were able to flip the script to not only the game but their season. The team went on a 28-4 second-half run to come back from…
