Former Indiana defensive tackle C.J. West is helping his NFL Draft stock once again this week. West garnered significant attention at the Shrine Bowl recently, and he is building on that momentum. In Indianapolis Thursday, West became just the ninth defensive tackle weighing 315 or more pounds to run a sub-5 second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine since 2003. Indiana forward Malik Reneau went to the hospital on Wednesday. The junior forward was nowhere to be found when the Hoosiers came out for pregame warmups ahead of their game against Penn State. Indiana football entered foreign territory in 2025. The program set a new win total record.  It contended for a Big Ten championship until the final week of the regular season.  It made the College Football Playoff, providing a path to win the national championship.  And the quarterback was legitimately in the Heisman Trophy conversation. Winning against Purdue is nothing new during Mike Woodson’s tenure. He’s 4-4 against the Boilermakers during what has been arguably the best stretch in Purdue program history. Indiana’s fans have even somewhat grown accustomed to beating their rival with some degree of regularity again after an 0-7 stretch during the Archie Miller era.  After court storming following the 2022 and 2023 wins over Purdue, the fans were content to stay in their seats on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday, Indiana forward Malik Reneau became the 55th player in program history to surpass the 1,000 point mark for his Indiana playing career. One of his teammates might be the next. Reneau has now amassed 1,005 career points in just under three full seasons at IU, while Trey Galloway is not far behind him with 949 points.  It’s going to be a close call for Galloway, who is averaging 7.7 points per game this season.  He could only get as little as five more games to score another 51 points — depending on how far the Hoosiers go in…

Purdue head coach Matt Painter created a national stir on Sunday when he offered a critique of Indiana (and his own) fans. Basically, the vocal minority in the fan base should try to be more positive and support the team, he said. That’s a reasonable take, even if it’s perhaps an incomplete view, and cuts a little deeper coming from the coach of a rival. Indiana gave its postseason resume a major boost on Sunday. With a win over Purdue, the Hoosiers have nearly secured a spot in the Big Ten Tournament and have placed themselves squarely on the NCAA Tournament bubble. The Hoosiers (16-11, 7-9) are currently tied for ninth place in the Big Ten with Nebraska.  The Big Ten Tournament field will be fully determined in less than two weeks.  And as a reminder, only the top 15 teams in the 18-team conference will make the field for the 2025 Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis.
