For the third straight year there will be a new head coach leading a program in the IU and Purdue football rivalry. Ryan Walters was fired by Purdue Sunday after just two seasons, ending his tenure in West Lafayette with a 5-19 record.  The Boilermakers went 1-11 in 2024, finishing with 11 consecutive losses and no FBS wins. Indiana made a convincing statement they belong in the College Football Playoff on a snowy field in Bloomington on Saturday evening. And records were smashed. The Hoosiers recorded their first ever 11 win season, finishing 11-1 for the regular season with a 66-0 win over Purdue.  That’s two more wins than the previous program single-season record set in 1967 and 1945. It was the most points Indiana scored against Purdue, and IU nearly had more points (66) than Purdue had yards (67). IU men’s soccer’s season came to an end on Saturday afternoon in Denver. The No. 14 national seeded Hoosiers lost 1-0 to the No. 3 seed Denver in regulation in the round-of-16 of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Denver’s Keegan Kelly scored unassisted in the first half on the team’s lone shot on goal.  The Hoosiers had three shots on goal including a couple in the final 15 minutes, but came up empty. Indiana is ranked No. 36 in the nation out of 133 teams in sacks allowed. So on the surface, pressure on the quarterback doesn’t seem like a major issue for the 10-1 Hoosiers.
