Big Ten titles and national titles. When it comes to team goals, that has been IU coach Mike Woodson’s refrain since he was hired in 2021. Indiana hasn’t been in the conversation for a national title in a long time. And only once have the Hoosiers been anywhere near the top of the league in Woodson’s three seasons, when they finished 12-8 and in a second-place tie in 2023, albeit three games out of first. Indiana opened conference play last month with a win over Minnesota and a loss at Nebraska, pushing Woodson’s Big Ten record to a pedestrian 32-30…

But the Hoosiers still have needs on that side of the ball after multiple starters and other regulars were lost to eligibility. Here’s a position-by-position look at where IU still has holes to fill on offense, ranked by areas of greatest need to the least. 1. Indiana did nothing to quiet the critics on Sunday against Winthrop. The Hoosiers took multiple eight point leads in the first half.  13-5, and then again at 30-22.  But as we’ve seen regularly this year, they couldn’t pull away and stay away.  It was a four point IU advantage at the break, and after a couple more eight and nine-point leads, an 8-0 Winthrop run had the margin at 69-68 Indiana with 3:16 left.  And that was immediately met by an 8-0 IU run to end it. Let’s take a deeper look at how IU won 77-68 with our latest…

IU basketball center Oumar Ballo appeared on the pregame availability report as questionable a few hours prior to the Hoosiers game against Winthrop on Sunday afternoon. Ballo emerged from the tunnel in uniform on Sunday an hour before tipoff, but he didn’t participate in warmups, signaling he was unlikely to play.  And the 7-footer never checked into the game. There were no observable indications Ballo was dealing with an injury.  Whatever the story, IU coach Mike Woodson was in no mood to discuss the situation postgame.  And his comments suggest the staff was a bit caught off guard by the…
