Indiana sophomore forward Trayce Jackson-Davis met with the media on Friday afternoon. Jackson-Davis spoke about the challenges presented by Michigan, the struggles Indiana has had over the last two games holding leads, what senior guard Aljami Durham means to the team, and more. The 6-foot-9 Jackson-Davis is averaging 20.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.  This week he was named a finalist for the Karl Malone power forward award. The 2021 college basketball offseason is going to be a wild ride. With seniors able to return for an extra year of eligibility, and the expected passage of a rule providing for a one-time exception to the requirement that transfers sit out a season, what rosters will look like in the fall is anyone’s guess. Well that escalated quickly. Over the course of an hour, a promising start against Rutgers became in all likelihood the final nails in the coffin of the 2020-21 season and possibly a coach’s tenure. Indiana lost to Rutgers on Wednesday night by a final score of 74-63 at the Rutgers Athletic Center in Piscataway, N.J. The Hoosiers were led by Trayce Jackson-Davis with 21 points.  Al Durham added 20 for IU.  The Hoosiers led early 23-8 but Rutgers controlled the game from there. Indiana sophomore guard Armaan Franklin is having a strong sophomore season in Bloomington and he was featured on the Big Ten Network’s documentary series “The Journey” this week. Franklin’s mother India and good friend Trayce Jackson-Davis help tell the story of his substantial year-over-year improvement. The Indianapolis product has increased his scoring average from 3.7 as a freshman to 12.2 points per game as a sophomore, a 5.1 per-40 minute improvement, and his per-40 minute rebounds and steals have increased as well.  Franklin has also improved his field goal percentage from 34.8 to 44.2 percent, including a robust 45.6 percent…

Watch as Indiana quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. provides an update to the media on his rehabilitation of a torn ACL on Monday afternoon. Penix had surgery on his torn ACL earlier in December after falling awkwardly against Maryland on Nov. 28.  It was the second time Penix tore his ACL in his right knee.  Penix earned second team All-Big Ten accolades after leading the Hoosiers to 5-1 mark in 2020 prior to the injury.  On the season Penix completed 124-of-220 (56.4 percent) of his throws for 1,645 yards and 14 touchdowns.
