After a 42-13 win at UCLA and a 3-0 start to the 2024 season, IU football is now firmly on the national radar. Indiana received seven votes in Sunday’s top-25 Coaches Poll following week three.  That effectively places them as the No. 39 team in the nation according to the coaches.  They received one vote the previous week. If Indiana has a lot of kickoffs on Saturday evening, that’s good news. But the Hoosiers will be utilizing a backup for that kicking role. Kickoff specialist Derek McCormick was listed as out for tonight’s game at Rose Bowl Stadium, along with tight end James Bomba and reserve defensive lineman Ta’Derious Collins. The 1966 Indiana football team gave you no indication that something special was coming. For the 1967 Hoosiers, that was often the case within games as well. Back in ’66, IU didn’t win a game after September, lost 51-6 against Purdue and finished the season 1-8-1. Indiana’s offense should get a boost on Saturday evening in Pasadena. 6-foot-5 wideout Donaven McCulley is expected to return from injury and be available to play when the Hoosiers face UCLA at Rose Bowl Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET. The possibility exists Indiana could get Braylon Mullins’ last visit. The Greenfield, Ind. top-25 senior set an ambitious visit schedule, with talk of stops at all of his ten finalists at one point this summer. The 6-foot-5 Mullins has already been to Connecticut and Michigan, and he’s at North Carolina this weekend. But stops at Alabama, Kansas and Purdue have already come off the board, or never got scheduled.
