Utah is becoming Indiana West. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported early Friday morning that the Utah Jazz have agreed to a deal with guard Yogi Ferrell. “Free agent guard Yogi Ferrell has agreed to a deal with the Utah Jazz, sources tell the Athletic,” Charania wrote on Twitter. Ferrell will join former IU forward Juwan Morgan in Salt Lake City. Morgan signed there as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and ended up starting two playoff games during his rookie season. Meanwhile, Ferrell played in 50 games for the Sacramento Kings in 2019-20, averaging 4.4 points, 1.4 assists and 1…
Rumors, flight trackers and buyouts, oh my! Indiana football has entered a brave new world. Once college football’s loveable losers, now everyone seems to want what IU’s got. First and foremost — the coaches. For the second straight season, success on the football field has led to the loss of a coordinator. Former offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer left to become the head coach at Fresno State after the 2019 campaign, and this week defensive coordinator Kane Wommack took the top job at South Alabama. Now they are coming for the top dog. Or at least that is a notion Indiana…

Indiana head coach Tom Allen has been named the Big Ten Conference’s football Coach of the Year. Allen earned the honor from both the league’s coaches and the media. In his fourth season in Bloomington, Allen led the Hoosiers to heights not seen in more than 50 years, including a top-ten national ranking and a 6-1 record with wins over Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Wisconsin. Allen is the first IU head coach to earn the honor since Bill Mallory won it in both 1986 and 1987. “It means a lot,” Allen said in an interview on BTN with…
Indiana head coach Tom Allen had to stick his neck out a bit to get some of these guys to Bloomington. They have since made him look like a scouting genius. Yes Allen likely has a good eye for talent. But it seems the real magic happens when his recruits arrive on campus. In the aggregate, recruiting rankings are directionally accurate. That’s what the folks in the industry will tell you anyway. Like any good industry, they have some self-serving data to back up their claims. Truth be told, they are probably right. Yes, there are diamonds in the rough,…
