Indiana head coach Tom Allen was doing his best to get his true freshman backup quarterback ready to go on a moment’s notice. “Okay Dex, this is why you came here buddy, it’s your time,” Allen said to 18 year old Dexter Williams as Jack Tuttle ran off the field to be examined in the locker room after suffering a blow to his helmet. Williams appeared set to take over with Indiana inside their own 15 yard line and the Hoosiers precariously clinging to a 14-6 lead over No. 16 Wisconsin with under nine minutes left in the game. Meanwhile,…

Growing up in northern Indiana, life was hard for Tom Allen. The Purdue fans were unavoidable, even in his own family. But seriously, the annual battle for the Old Oaken Bucket was part of Allen’s football centric upbringing in New Castle, Ind. “I’ve seen the game a lot,” Allen said on Monday. “Watched it every single year. To me it was always cold watching those games it seemed like. But man you just throw out the records, I always wanted to watch the game.” As an Indiana native Allen gets the rivalry in a way that others in his position…
The Big Ten / ACC Challenge has seen a couple postponements due to COVID-19. The ripple effect has caused a change to the tip time for Indiana’s Wednesday matchup with Florida State. The IU basketball program announced on Monday afternoon that the Florida State game will now be played at 7:15 p.m. ET on Wednesday. The television designation changed as well. The Hoosiers and Seminoles will now air on ESPN. https://twitter.com/IndianaMBB/status/1336026240801787904?s=20 Indiana defeated the Seminoles 80-64 in connection with the event last season in Bloomington. Senior guard Devonte Green made five three-pointers and scored 30 points in the contest. Indiana…
All eyes now turn to the Big Ten, and the University of Michigan football program. Will the Wolverines or won’t they provide Ohio State with their required sixth game to qualify for the Ben Ten championship game as they contend with a COVID-19 outbreak? And if Michigan cannot play the Buckeyes this Saturday, how does the Big Ten respond? As of Friday, reports suggested a pessimistic outlook for Michigan to show up for their annual rivalry game against Ohio State. And as a 30-point underdog, it is reasonable to wonder if Wolverine head coach Jim Harbaugh really has any interest…

It will be the second meeting in as many years between IU and the Seminoles. The teams met in Bloomington in 2019 as part of the Challenge, with the Hoosiers coming out on top 80-64. FSU (1-0) head coach Leonard Hamilton met with the media on Monday to discuss his team and the matchup with IU. Indiana and Florida State will tip at 7:15 p.m. ET on Wednesday on…
The weekly recognition haul continues for IU football. Indiana’s defense was the story of the Hoosiers’ 14-6 win over Wisconsin in Madison. And it should come as no surprise that the IU’s top performer on that side of the football was named the Big Ten defensive player of the week. Junior linebacker Micah McFadden earned that honor, adding it to the Walter Camp Foundation National Defensive Player of the Week recognition he received on Sunday. McFadden had 9 tackles including 2 sacks against the Badgers. After an impressive performance pinning the Badgers deep in their own territory, punter Haydon Whitehead…
The No. 13 IU women appeared to be on their way to an early statement win at Kentucky. Junior guard Grace Berger’s jumper at the third quarter buzzer gave the Hoosiers a 10-point edge going into the final 10 minutes in Lexington. But IU shot just 26 percent in the final quarter, and an 11-0 Kentucky run late in the frame put the home team on top. Indiana made it interesting in the closing seconds but it wasn’t enough as the No. 11 Wildcats claimed a 72-68 come-from-behind win. “Obviously, we are disappointed in the result,” Indiana head coach Teri…
IU has risen to its highest spot in the Associated Press (AP) poll since 1967 after a 14-6 win over Wisconsin. The Hoosiers are ranked No. 8 in the new AP poll released on Sunday, and No. 9 in the coaches poll. IU has been ranked in the AP poll for seven-straight weeks, matching the program regular-season record. Joining IU in the national polls from the Big Ten are Ohio State (No. 3 AP / No. 4 coaches), Northwestern (15/14), Iowa (19/18) and Wisconsin (25/25). The Hoosiers are a big early favorite to keep the Old Oaken Bucket next weekend.…
