Nine Indiana basketball players that saw the floor during the season will be back for the 2020-21 campaign as of this writing.  While formal practices have concluded, the work never stops for high major college basketball players.  Growth and development happens in the offseason, in individual workouts and permitted organized team activities. The IU women’s basketball program saw a wave of transfers leave the program over the last couple months. In late January Indiana announced that guards Bendu Yeaney and Shaila Beeler were transferring.  Last week, 2019 Miss Basketball Jorie Allen entered the transfer portal. It didn’t take long for Jacksonville, Fla. defensive back Larry Smith to pick Indiana. Just a few weeks after the Hoosiers offered a scholarship, Smith has verbally committed to play for IU. The 5-foot-11, 170 pound Smith announced his decision on his Twitter page on Friday. https://twitter.com/Watch_Larry/status/1248673720706699264?s=20 Ranked No. 529 nationally according to the 247Sports Composite and the No. 34 safety, Smith is a higher tier three-star recruit.  According to Rivals Smith is a four-star recruit Smith led his Lee High School team with five interceptions and added 52 tackles on the season.  He made the Class 6A first team…

IU basketball signee and Bloomington High School South product Anthony Leal has been named Indiana Mr. Basketball for 2020. And for the first time ever, an incoming IU basketball player has won the award for three straight years. https://twitter.com/anthonyl3al/status/1248629279182802947?s=20 Leal averaged 18.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game and led Bloomington South to an undefeated 26-0 season. Trey Patterson is a 4-star recruit and the No. 38 player in the country in the class of 2021 according to the 247Sports Composite.  The 6-foot-8 wing took an official visit to Indiana in the fall. The Somerset, N.J. product averaged 19.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game for the 2019-20 season and was named first team All-State while leading Rutgers Prep to a 27-2 record. Indiana is competing with several high major programs for Patterson including Villanova, Florida, Auburn and UConn. One of the top grad transfers on the market has included Indiana on his list of finalists. 6-foot-4 shooting guard Charles Minlend from San Francisco is down to Arizona, Arkansas, Butler, BYU, Gonzaga, Indiana and Mississippi State, according to Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers. Minlend averaged 14.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists as a junior in the WCC.  He was named All-WCC second team each of the last two seasons. Originally from Concord, N.C., Minlend is 18th on USF’s all-time scoring list with 1,271 career points.  He shot 41.6 percent from the field overall in 2019-20, including 30.3 percent…
