The odds have been stacked against Kyle Hart ever seeing this day since 2014. On Thursday, the former IU ace will defy those odds. Hart will take the mound for the Boston Red Sox this afternoon, making his first Major League Baseball appearance.  In the process he will become the 31st former IU baseball player to make an appearance in the big leagues. The 6-foot-5 lefthander has toiled away in the minor leagues after being selected by Boston in the 19th round of the 2016 MLB draft. UPDATE:  In a new report on Thursday, Griffin indicated that he intends to stay at Syracuse. Just a day after the news broke that former IU assistant coach Bruiser Flint was leaving the program, a name has surfaced as a possible replacement. Syracuse.com’s Mike Waters is reporting via sources that IU head coach Archie Miller is courting Syracuse assistant Allen Griffin to join the staff in Bloomington. Griffin played at Syracuse under Jim Boeheim from 1997 to 2001, and he joined the Orange coaching staff in 2017. A native of New York, Griffin works primarily with the centers at Syracuse.…

The top in-state class of 2021 guard left on the board is in the process of wrapping things up. It has never been real easy to handicap where things stand with South Bend, Ind. guard Blake Wesley, but clues are about to be dropped. One of the most promising seasons in the history of the Indiana football program will have to wait. If it ever happens at all. Multiple national college football reporters including Pat Forde, Bruce Feldman and Brett McMurphy all reported around the same time on Twitter that the Big Ten presidents have voted to postpone the 2020 season until the spring. The conference later substantiated the reports with a press release, and clarified that the cancellation includes all fall sports. At a critical juncture in his tenure in Bloomington, IU head coach Archie Miller will need to move fast to replace outgoing assistant coach Bruiser Flint. As Flint moves on to Kentucky to reunite with good friend John Calipari, Miller is left with an opening for the second summer in a row.  IU hired Mike Roberts in August, 2019. For the second summer in a row, Indiana appears to have an opening on its men’s basketball coaching staff. CBS college basketball reporter Jon Rothstein reported on his Twitter page that IU assistant coach Bruiser Flint is headed to Kentucky to become an assistant coach under John Calipari. “Sources: Indiana assistant Bruiser Flint will join John Calipari’s staff at Kentucky as an assistant coach. Official announcement expected soon,” Rothstein said in his tweet. The Daily Hoosier is teaming up with The Hoosier Experience podcast to bring you interviews with IU players, coaches and recruits. McCutcheon High School incoming sophomore and IU basketball recruiting target Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn answered a wide range of questions with host Aidan Kunst. Playing for the Lafayette, Ind. area program for the 2019-20 season, Gibbs-Lawhorn poured in 21 points per game while adding 3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and .9 steals per contest.  He made 49 percent of his shots overall including 46 percent from three-point range on 136 attempts.
