Peyton Ramsey had a storybook redshirt junior season at Indiana, coming off the bench to help guide IU to an improbable eight win season and a trip to the Gator Bowl. But there was no fairy tale ending, as Ramsey decided to use his final season of eligibility elsewhere rather than return to the bench behind starter Michael Penix, Jr. Ramsey transferred to Northwestern after the 2019 season, and the Wildcats officially announced the addition of the Ohio native to their roster on Tuesday. In the release from Northwestern, Ramsey thanked IU for his four seasons in Bloomington. “I would…
Although many of the names have changed, when it comes to roster construction, a year later the overarching question remains the same. Last May Indiana head coach Archie Miller didn’t seem terribly concerned when asked about utilizing just 11 of his allotted 13 scholarships. “Guys fall out of the sky in August nowadays,” Archie Miller joked a year ago at IU’s booster event at Huber’s Orchard and Winery in Borden . “I mean, you just catch ‘em.” IU didn’t catch any summer falling stars going into the 2019-20 season, and now it is one of their own that has put…

If you were going to play basketball for Bob Knight, you had better know how to set a good screen. Even the great ones drew Knight’s ire if their screen game wasn’t on point. With Team USA up 23 points at halftime of the gold-medal game at the 1984 Olympics, Knight struggled to find a flaw in Michael Jordan’s performance. Ever the perfectionist, the legendary Indiana coach dialed in. “Mike, when the hell are you going to set a screen?” Knight yelled. “All you’re doing is rebounding, passing and scoring. Dammit, screen somebody out here!” Knight has playfully told that…

In all likelihood, Indiana’s roster for the 2020-21 season is set. Are the Hoosiers a contender for the upper half of the league? Could they perhaps even secure a double bye at the Big Ten tournament and make a run at the conference crown? IU’s standing in the league next season in many ways depends on things that are out of their control. Six of the top players still technically on Big Ten rosters right now have yet to decide whether they will return for the upcoming season or stay in the NBA Draft. ILLINOIS — AYO DOSUNMU and KOFI…

Cornerbacks coach Brandon Shelby took questions from the media earlier this week. He is in his 10th season at Indiana. Shelby was a standout defensive back at Oklahoma, where he participated in two BCS National Championship games and three-straight BCS bowl games. As a four-year letterman (2001-04), he earned both All-Big 12 honors and Academic All-Big 12 honors.
