Did Indiana find something on Saturday against Ohio State? The Hoosiers were by no means perfect in their 66-54 win over the Buckeyes. IU head coach Archie Miller acknowledged that. But he also highlighted the one thing that stood out the most about Indiana’s performance. “We could have probably done some things better, but I thought guys just played hard,” Miller said. Playing hard. The concept is simple enough, but for whatever reason Miller’s Indiana teams have struggled to consistently bring and maintain intensity. It was just one game, but with Indiana playing in front of dozens of former players…

When the news that Indiana was going to name Nick Sheridan as its new offensive coordinator broke, there was some head scratching. Perhaps even some doubt as to the validity of the rumor. Sitting in the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall media room before Indiana tipped-off against Northwestern on Wednesday night, no one saw that coming, at least not as a perceived top option. While head coach Tom Allen had stated publicly that he wanted to keep the offensive scheme the same upon outgoing OC Kalen DeBoer’s decision to leave for a head coaching job at Fresno State, a promotion from…
Indiana’s 12 round knockout over Ohio State on Saturday wasn’t for the faint of heart. If you got 19 minutes in that Big Ten slugfest, it’s because your coach thought you were doing something right. It is hard not to look at Indiana redshirt freshman Jerome Hunter’s year-to-date stat line and grimace a bit, especially the shooting numbers. 32 percent from the field overall and 15 percent from three-point range will do that. But Indiana head coach Archie Miller isn’t necessarily looking at Hunter’s shot chart when he decides whether to put him in a game, and whether to keep…

Midway through the second half against Northwestern on Wednesday night, it looked like a season was cratering. Just a few days later, the Hoosiers picked up one of their biggest wins over the last few years against No. 11 Ohio State. It was the sixth game in the Archie Miller era that the Hoosiers have defeated a ranked team, and at least for a little while, some recent struggles faded into the background. Back and forth we go. It’s just going to be like that in the Big Ten. The grind continues on Wednesday night when Indiana (13-3, 3-2) travels…
