Both of Indiana’s seniors have had big games in the last week. Guard Devonte Green thrilled the home crowd with a seven three-pointer fueled 27 point outburst off the bench on Thursday night against Iowa. Three days later, forward De’Ron Davis scored a career high 18 points against Michigan as he tied the Indiana single game field goal percentage record with a 9-for-9 shooting performance. It didn’t take Indiana long to find the replacement to the replacement for its next defensive line coach. Just days after Michigan State’s Ron Burton did an about face and decided to remain with the Spartans and their new head coach Mel Tucker, reports are now indicating that IU will hire Tulane’s Kevin Peoples. Football Scoop first reported the news on Monday morning: “Tulane defensive line coach Kevin Peoples will join the (Indiana) staff in the same role, sources tell FootballScoop. Indiana had previously hired Ron Burton to coach its defensive line before he decided to remain in East Lansing.”…

Indiana appears to have a football program on the rise, and data points continue to emerge to back up that sentiment. ESPN staff writer Bill Connelly released his preliminary SP+ ratings for the coming season and Indiana comes in at No. 27 in the predictive analytical system. Indiana apparently doesn’t like to travel.  If that’s the case, there is a silver lining in the Hoosiers’ sixth loss in seven attempts in true road contests this season. IU may not have to worry about traveling for the NCAA Tournament if they can’t find some level of respectability away from Bloomington. There was nothing respectable about Michigan’s 89-65 dismantling of Indiana at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor on Sunday afternoon. Everyone knows that this has been a long time coming. His teammates at the podium lit up when Indiana’s sports information director told the media that Race Thompson had a career high ten points on Thursday night against Iowa.
