Juwan Morgan owes Archie Miller an apology.  Sort of. “As much as I hated that they always made me play the five,” Morgan said with a big grin during his senior day speech in March about Miller and his coaching staff having Morgan play center over the last two years of his Indiana career. Without a true post presence on the roster that was healthy and high major ready during Morgan’s junior and senior seasons at IU, Miller had little choice when it came to where to play his All-Big Ten performer. Indiana made a living early in the season against smaller mid-majors dominating the paint, winning the rebounding margin and getting to the free throw line. Playing under first year head coach Eric Musselman, Arkansas’ top five players in terms of minutes are all guards that are 6-foot-5 or shorter.  6-foot-6 forward Adrio Bailey…

As the Indiana basketball team left Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon, it was difficult to ignore the similarities to this same point in the season last year. A year ago it was true freshman Rob Phinisee at the microphone discussing his late game heroics in a win against Butler.  This year, it was true freshman Armaan Franklin. Last year Indiana moved to 9-2 after that Crossroads Classic win.  This year the Hoosiers have moved to 11-1.  An optimist sees good records.  A pessimist can have legitimate questions both then and now regarding the way the Hoosiers are winning. A year ago,…

Indiana dug an early hole against UCLA, and they could never quite find their way out. Struggling from the field against a stifling Bruin defense, the Hoosiers fell behind 18-4 early in the second quarter.  IU made just 2-of-16 shots from the field in the first quarter, and shot just 23.3 percent for the first half as the Hoosiers struggled with UCLA’s length in the halfcourt.
