After a strong start to their 2019 season, Indiana didn’t want to fumble away their momentum against Northwestern on Saturday night. Instead, it was the Wildcats that did all of the fumbling in Bloomington as IU picked up their seventh win of the season. Northwestern fumbled on their first drive of the game, and two more times before the first half was over as Indiana capitalized on the miscues with two touchdowns and ran out to a 24-3 halftime lead. True freshman cornerback Tiawan Mullen played a role in two of the three fumbles, and he had a message for…

As a trailblazer, it was never going to be an easy path for George Taliaferro. Even for a star athlete, transitioning from life in Gary, Indiana to racially segregated Bloomington didn’t come without its challenges in the 1940’s.  Taliaferro couldn’t live in the dorms and was only allowed on the IU campus to attend classes and football practice.  When he went to class, he couldn’t sit in the front row. When he went to the movies he was ordered by a sign to sit in a separate section.  Since then Taliaferro has often told the story of how he took…

My how things have changed since we last previewed a game to be played in Bloomington. Three weeks ago, Indiana was coming off a tough road loss to Michigan State, and “here we go again” was the prevailing wisdom. Now, with a November chill in the air, here we go again has become something that hadn’t been seen in more than 25 years.  Indiana is bowl eligible just eight games into the season while riding a three game conference winning streak. Suddenly, anything feels possible, but no one can be taken lightly. The Hoosiers and Wildcats meet under the lights…

Taliaferro passed away on Oct. 8, 2018 at the age of 91.  You can read more about him here. Below is the full release via IU Athletics…

As a 42.8 percent career three-point shooter, it can’t be easy to watch. “If you can shoot, you can shoot,” Indiana head coach Archie Miller told us at the Big Ten’s media day in October. As a guard for North Carolina State from 1997 to 2002, Miller could shoot.  It was something that he was known for throughout his career in the Atlantic Coast Conference. But Miller’s first two Indiana teams? Well, not so much. His first Hoosier squad shot a dismal 32.2 percent from long range, which put IU at No. 307 in the country (out of 353 teams).…
