Purdue head coach Matt Painter met with the media on Wednesday to preview Thursday’s contest with Indiana. The Boilermakers won the first meeting of the season in Bloomington on February 8. Class of 2021 five-star point guard Khristian Lander announced his verbal commitment to Indiana on Tuesday evening. An Evansville, Ind. product, Lander is the top-rated point guard in his class nationally, and the No. 1 junior in the state of Indiana. The top recruiting target on the board is a Hoosier. Class of 2021 Evansville, Ind. based point guard Khristian Lander has committed to Indiana. It isn’t just folks in and around the Indiana program that are noticing. Despite a double-double from Trayce Jackson-Davis and a team leading 14 points from Al Durham, Penn State head coach Pat Chambers almost instinctively knew who changed the game on Sunday for Indiana — even if he didn’t have any noteworthy numbers on the stat sheet to back him up. “I thought Race (Thompson) played really well.,” Chambers said.  “Maybe his stat line won’t indicate that, but I thought his job late on Lamar was fantastic and he got some big time rebounds.” It is probably no coincidence…

Former IU star Cody Zeller will be returning to his home state tomorrow and raising awareness for a local organization close to his heart. A center for the Hornets, Zeller will be in Indianapolis on Tuesday as Charlotte takes on the Indiana Pacers. During tomorrow’s game, Zeller will don customized shoes when the Hornets take on the Pacers as part of his season-long initiative, Kicks for Kids. For five games throughout the season, Zeller will wear shoes that have been designed by children from various charities and organizations he has ties to. The IU football program has announced that tight end Peyton Hendershot has been suspended indefinitely after being arrested this weekend. Indiana released the following statement on Monday: Indiana University Head Football Coach Tom Allen has suspended redshirt sophomore Peyton Hendershot immediately and indefinitely from all team activities. He will continue to evaluate the situation pending further developments. According to a Bloomington Police Report, Hendershot was booked on charges including misdemeanor domestic battery, felony residential entry, criminal mischief and criminal conversion.
