Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald knew that this day was possible for Indiana. He has seen program turnarounds as both a player and a coach for the Wildcats. And this summer at the Big Ten’s football media day, Fitzgerald acknowledged that Tom Allen had Indiana on the brink of a breakout season. “I look at Tom (Allen) right now at IU,” Fitzgerald said on BTN during Big Ten Media Day. “They’re right there, right? They’re right there. I lived that as a player. We were right there.” Getting there and staying there are two different animals. And Fitzgerald has seen that…

After leading Indiana to two straight Big Ten road wins, it was a reasonable question to at least ask. A reporter made this inquiry of IU head football coach Tom Allen at his regular Monday press conference: “The way Peyton (Ramsey) has played the last couple of weeks, does it make you reevaluate the way you handle the quarterback position?” Allen didn’t hesitate in his response. “First of all, Mike (Penix) is our starter,” Allen said. With that out of the way, the Hoosier head coach immediately transitioned to the play of Ramsey. “Peyton’s done a phenomenal job, but if…
“So all things being said, we’re sort of ready to get going,” Archie Miller said at a press conference on Monday as his team readies to face Gannon on Tuesday in Indiana’s lone home exhibition game before the 2019-20 season. Just sort of. Don’t worry, Miller doesn’t have reservations about starting his third season in Bloomington. But he does have an all too familiar problem. “Here early in the part of the season we’ve been battling the injury bug a little bit,” Miller said. “We’re knocking on wood hopefully not too serious as we continue to pursue our nonconference.” If…
