As Indiana (5-2, 2-2) prepares for another major road test, a familiar narrative is unfolding at the quarterback position. Starter Michael Penix left the Maryland game in the second quarter with an undisclosed injury. Penix also missed two games earlier in the season with an injury that he recently said was related to his throwing shoulder. The Tampa product appeared to take a hit against Maryland to his throwing shoulder but head coach Tom Allen indicated after the game that this latest issue was not related to Penix’s earlier injury. Allen spoke about Penix’s availability for this Saturday’s game at…
Indiana a favorite at Nebraska? What is this, 1943? According to vegasinsider.com, Indiana is a three point favorite as of this writing for Saturday’s game at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Not exactly what many would have expected when the season began nearly two months ago. The Cornhuskers were a popular pick to make a breakthrough under second year head coach Scott Frost. Instead, Nebraska (4-3, 2-2) has done very little to impress in 2019. Meanwhile, Indiana (5-2, 2-2) has reached at least five wins in their first seven contests for the first time since 2007. The fast start has…

If seeing Peyton Ramsey enter the game in the second quarter at Maryland gave you doubts, well, that’s reasonable. If you are like me, the concerns weren’t so much about Ramsey as they were about what Indiana was losing when redshirt freshman Michael Penix left the game with what appeared to be a re-aggravation of a throwing shoulder injury. Penix is just that good. And when Ramsey replaced Penix on Saturday, he was just that good. The Hoosiers didn’t miss a beat when the redshirt junior entered the game, as Ramsey went 20-for-27 passing for 197 yards and a touchdown. …

These are the games that make or break seasons. After consecutive 5-7 campaigns, Indiana needs to find a way to get over the hump. Now in his third season at IU, head coach Tom Allen needs to find a way to get over the hump. The Hoosiers need just two more wins to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2016, but then, they have been down this road before. A 3-2 start in 2017, and a 4-1 start in 2018 both ended in the same place — seasons that ended one win short of bowl eligibility. IU can…
