Whether it’s dunks he may not have been able to pull off, or his records that may ultimately be broken, Calbert Cheaney recognizes that things change. But not everything. The Evansville, Ind. native was back in Bloomington as a special guest of the IU program at the 2019 Hoosier Hysteria event, and Cheaney made it clear that his affection for the Indiana program is unwavering. “I just love showing support for the program,” Cheaney said on Saturday night after Hoosier Hysteria. “It never gets old. I’ve been removed from Indiana because of graduation for 25 or 26 years but I…

Perhaps the most important recruiting weekend on the Indiana basketball calendar will find perhaps the most important recruit on IU’s list of targets on campus. Hoosier head coach Archie Miller made his emphasis on in-state recruiting clear from day one, and so far he has in large part delivered, landing the state’s last two Mr. Basketball award winners and a total of eight Indiana based players in his first three classes thus far. Despite his early success in the Hoosier State, Miller may ultimately be judged by how well he recruits in-state in the class of 2021. 11 of the…
By now you have likely at least heard about California Senate Bill 206. Commonly known as the Fair Pay to Play Act, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed the bill earlier this week. The law has generated substantial discussion in recent days, and for good reason. Allowing student-athletes to profit off their name, image and likeness, the new California law has the potential to dramatically change the landscape of collegiate athletics. The law takes effect on Jan. 1, 2023, with several twists and turns in the road likely along the way as it relates to the response by the NCAA and…
OG Anunoby was always known as a man of few words during his two year stint at Indiana. Whether he disliked talking to the press, was uncomfortable, or just amusing himself, Anunoby rarely gave lengthy answers. While that doesn’t appear to have changed significantly, Anunoby did perhaps reluctantly give interviews in connection with the Toronto Raptors media day. Below are two of the interviews, featuring more than six minutes of Q&A. Anunoby is averaging 6.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game during his first two years in the league, playing an average of 20.1 minutes per contest. Earlier this year…
It helps to hear it from an outside, independent voice. Indiana’s players elected two guards as their captains for the 2019-20 season. Senior Devonte Green and junior Al Durham each have two years of experience in head coach Archie Miller’s system. But the straw that stirs the drink that is this year’s Hoosier squad is likely going to be in the front court. BTN’s Dave Revsine clearly saw that when preparing to speak with Miller prior to Wednesday’s Big Ten Media Day in Chicago: “One of things that stands out to me as I was thinking about what I wanted…
