A big football game and perfect weather — it is a good late summer weekend to be in Bloomington. That’s where in-state class of 2021 forward Trey Kaufman will be as he takes one of his five allotted junior year official visits at Indiana. Kaufman has been a known commodity on the recruiting trail for a while, but his rise has been significant during the spring and summer. Indiana was one of the first high major programs to offer Kaufman, and several have followed suit since.  With this weekend’s visit sandwiched in between official visits to Purdue and Louisville, Kaufman’s…

With Ohio State in town, Indiana needs all hands on deck on Saturday for their noon kickoff against the Buckeyes. Buckeye head coach Ryan Day is fully aware of the Georgia native’s talent. “Their secondary is…

There may have been more to the story of Michael Penix’s pre-halftime exit last week against Eastern Illinois. IU football head coach Tom Allen told reporters today that the redshirt freshman starting quarterback is questionable for Saturday’s matchup with No. 6 Ohio State with an injury. “He’s working through some things right now and we’re not 100 percent sure,” Allen told reporters on Thursday.  “It’s going to be a game day decision.” Allen indicated that the injury was not suffered in last Saturday’s game, but that Penix had indicated that something was not right.  Allen did not elaborate on the…

There is no denying the raw talent. And the potential. But who is Indiana redshirt freshman quarterback Michael Penix? While all signs point in a positive direction, as of right now, the verdict is still out. One way, or another, that could change on Saturday when the Hoosiers host No. 6 Ohio State in Bloomington. For his brief career thus far, Penix is 59-of-94 throwing the football.  That’s good for a 62.8 completion percentage, which would be the second best mark in program history if he had enough attempts. Penix isn’t building up that completion percentage on check downs.  His…
