Despite a strong start twelve games into the 2019-20 season, no one would slap a “perfect” label on Indiana. But in at least one regard, the Hoosiers have a chance to claim perfection before the new year. For the first time since the 2011-12 season, Indiana can finish the nonconference portion of this campaign undefeated if they can get past one more high major hurdle. For the second time in the last nine months, Arkansas will venture north to Bloomington to face IU. While the foe is familiar, much has changed with the Razorbacks. Out is former head coach Mike…

It has been a season of unfamiliar, and at times uncharted territory thus far for the Indiana women’s basketball team. A win over a top five team? The Hoosiers did that for the first time in a decade. A national ranking as high as No. 12? That had never happened for IU until this 2019-20 campaign. Now Indiana is set to begin Big Ten conference play, and once again the Hoosiers find themselves in an unfamiliar spot — as one of the favorites to win the league. The last time Indiana claimed a Big Ten regular season crown, no one…
With the 2019-20 high school season now well underway, The Daily Hoosier will be highlighting several players on the radar of the IU basketball program. One of a few in-state point guards that has the attention of the regional high major programs is North Central (Indianapolis) sophomore Leland Walker. As a freshman playing in the most talented conference (MIC) in the state of Indiana, Walker averaged 15 points and 2.5 assists per game for the 2018-19 season. According to North Central, through six games this year Walker is averaging 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest while shooting…
Juwan Morgan owes Archie Miller an apology. Sort of. “As much as I hated that they always made me play the five,” Morgan said with a big grin during his senior day speech in March about Miller and his coaching staff having Morgan play center over the last two years of his Indiana career. Without a true post presence on the roster that was healthy and high major ready during Morgan’s junior and senior seasons at IU, Miller had little choice when it came to where to play his All-Big Ten performer. Of course Morgan was being playful when he…
Indiana made a living early in the season against smaller mid-majors dominating the paint, winning the rebounding margin and getting to the free throw line. As it turns out, those early contests were good preparation for the more difficult portion of IU’s schedule, including Sunday’s game against Arkansas (10-1). According to KenPom, the Razorbacks are one of the shortest teams in the country, coming in at No. 281 nationally in average height. Playing under first year head coach Eric Musselman, Arkansas’ top five players in terms of minutes are all guards that are 6-foot-5 or shorter. 6-foot-6 forward Adrio Bailey…
