Today we take a look at the defensive line. For several months, Indiana head coach Tom Allen hasn’t hesitated when quizzed on the position group on his team that had the most question marks going into the 2019 season. In late May Allen said this about the defensive line when asked which unit had the most ground to make up: “I would say that depth at the…

Of course the unit is still waiting to find out who their quarterback will be to start the season. Next year’s IU basketball schedule continues to trickle out. 28 of the 31 games are now known after the University of North Alabama’s release of its schedule today. Indiana will host the Lions on November 12 in Bloomington at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Based in Florence, Alabama, the Lions are a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. They finished the season 10-22 last year and ended the campaign ranked No. 284 nationally according to KenPom. North Alabama moved to NCAA Division One athletics in 2018. Class of 2021 guard Blake Wesley was focused and ready to play when he arrived in Bloomington for the IU basketball team camp back in June. Just in case a little extra incentive was needed, a fellow South Bend, Ind. product was ready to keep an eye on him. “It helped to have Damezi Anderson tell him before the camp that when he came down (to IU) he had better play great,” Wesley’s father Derrick told The Daily Hoosier. Anderson was a senior at Riley when Blake was a freshman at the South Bend high school, and the two now…
Class of 2020 five star guard Caleb Love wants to see more. Already a two time unofficial visitor to the IU campus, the St. Louis product has scheduled an official visit to Indiana beginning on September 12. Love announced visits to five of his six finalists via his Twitter account. https://twitter.com/caleb2love/status/1162789668183846912?s=20 Love does not appear to have scheduled anything with his sixth finalist, Arizona. With that school being the farthest away from St. Louis, an unofficial visit there (paid by the recruit) seems unlikely. Indiana offered Love a scholarship in July of 2018 and they have been closely involved with…
“Your not just Thomas Allen, your Tom Allen’s son.” You know all of that pressure that IU head coach Tom Allen feels as he tries to finally build a consistent winning program in Bloomington? Take all of that….times two. Allen’s son Thomas, a redshirt sophomore linebacker for the Hoosiers, is trying to establish his own career while simultaneously watching his dad do the same thing at Indiana. If Thomas makes a mistake on the football field, it isn’t just his mistake. It costs his dad too. That’s a heavy burden for a young man, and it’s something that the now…
The Daily Hoosier has spent several days at Indiana football’s 2019 fall camp observing one of the better quarterback competitions in the program’s recent history. We’ve also spoken with several other members of the media to get their take. One way or the other, a decision will be reached by the end of next week to allow the starter a full week to prepare for IU’s season opener on August 31 against Ball State in Indianapolis. Each of Michael Penix, Peyton Ramsey and Jack Tuttle have shown the ability to win the job — but they all have shortcomings as…
Fall camp rolled on in Bloomington on Friday. Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack met with the media this afternoon to provide an update on the defense and discuss his father’s attendance at practice. Dave Wommack was the defensive coordinator at Ole Miss when both Kane and Tom Allen worked under him there.
