There is a certain undeniable allure and prestige attached to playing at an Ohio State or Michigan, just for example. But with those opportunities comes risk — of getting lost in the shuffle along with all the other top talent. Some are drawn to something altogether…

It turns out that April appearance at an Indiana baseball game might have been a house hunting trip. “It’s nice being here,” Bob Knight said as he arrived at Bart Kaufman Field on the IU campus on April 6th. He meant it. After months of rumors, The Bloomington Herald Times is reporting that the former IU head basketball coach and his wife Karen have acquired a home in Bloomington based on that outlet’s acquisition of recently filed property transfer records in the Monroe County Assessor’s Office. Out of respect for the privacy of the Knight family, we won’t disclose the…

Three. On a pure per capita basis, that’s how many Indiana based kids should be ranked in the top 150 high school players in the boys basketball class of 2021. But this is Indiana. So how about nine? We’ve told you about the breadth and depth of the Indiana-based talent in 2021, and the latest rankings by 247Sports provide further evidence that this is indeed a uniquely loaded in-state class. Schools like IU are generally looking to recruit almost exclusively within the top 150, so clearly they won’t be able to target everyone in the class that is good enough…
It was dubbed “A Knight to Remember.” 35 years later, it is a night that is difficult to imagine. Only in Indiana could the confluence of several factors combine to produce the largest ever indoor basketball crowd in history — for an exhibition game. Indiana head basketball coach Bob Knight was the head coach of Team USA in 1984, and before they headed to Los Angeles for the Olympic Games, his American squad played a series of exhibition games. On July 9, 1984, the stop was Indianapolis. Of course the locals wanted to see Knight and a Team USA roster…

Nine entire seasons. 1973, 1975, 1976, 1987, 1992, 1993, 1994, 2007, and 2016 to be precise. Throughout most of its 48 year history, Indiana basketball’s current home arena has been a veritable “hall of horrors” for those who have dared to enter. Those nine seasons Indiana went undefeated at home, including a stretch from February 1991 to January 1995 without a single blemish at the friendly confines. For this writer, losing at home was almost literally unheard of. Entering IU as freshman in 1991, I didn’t see a home loss until my senior year. There were no gimmicky student section…
