It is a moment that countless children have imagined at home in their driveways. Wearing the candy-striped pants, playing at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, and making game winning shots. One of those young boys was new IU basketball commit Anthony Leal in 2014. In the video below that was prepared in connection with a middle school project, Leal and friends re-enact “This is Indiana” as they imitate their favorite Hoosiers. Also in the video is Leal’s teammate and current Bloomington South point guard Noah Jager. Jager is the younger brother of former IU walk-on Johnny Jager. He is committed to…

“Center court, opposite side of the benches, up probably 20 rows.” If you’ve been to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, you know those are pretty good seats. From that vantage point, a young boy could get a good look at future NBA stars like Eric Gordon, Cody Zeller and Victor Oladipo. And from that vantage point, a young boy became a big fan. Was new IU basketball commit Anthony Leal really a fan of the Hoosier program growing up? “Oh yeah, without a doubt,” he told The Daily Hoosier. “We had season tickets for many years growing up,” Leal said. Who…

We are just over three weeks away from the start of the 2019 Indiana football season. I spent the day in Bloomington on Wednesday to observe practice. Here are some of the more significant things I picked up from the team’s fall camp just north of Memorial Stadium on the IU campus. Of course the question on everyone’s mind is the quarterback competition. Who stood out? That is really tough to say. Mike Penix appears to have the best arm, but he took several sacks and you have to wonder where he’s at mentally with his recovery from knee surgery…
Indiana hired new offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer in January to replace the outgoing Mike DeBord. Deboer led the offense at spring practice and is installing his new system while a three-way quarterback competition unfolds. The former Fresno State offensive coordinator gave an update on Wednesday from fall camp in Bloomington. https://youtu.be/M4es77N5VnQ Video Credit – IU Athletics You can follow us on Twitter: @daily_hoosier Find us on Facebook: thedailyhoosier The Daily Hoosier –“Where Indiana fans assemble when they’re not at Assembly” Seven ways to support completely free IU coverage at no additional cost to you.
The quarterback competition dominates the headlines, but Indiana has four legitimate starters at running back in 2019. Stevie Scott is clear starter, but unlike the quarterbacks, all four should see plenty of snaps. Hear the latest on the group from assistant head coach and running back coach Mike Hart along with Stevie Scott, Cole Gest and Ronnie Walker, Jr. from fall camp on Wednesday.
