With what appears to be four available scholarships for its 2020 class, Indiana will make a hard push to fill one of those openings with someone that can play the five spot. One player in the class that the Hoosier coaching staff has been focusing on recently is Elijah Hutchins-Everett. The 6-foot-11 center is rated as a 4-star by the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 64 player overall in the 2020 class and the No. 11 center according to that same service. Hutchins-Everett moved up 50 spots in the national rankings in March after strong showings in national events…

They say familiarity breeds contempt, but for Noblesville, Ind. offensive lineman Cameron Knight and the IU coaching staff, it apparently breeds comfort. The younger brother of former Hoosier offensive lineman and current Dallas Cowboy undrafted free agent signee Brandon Knight, Cameron announced on Twitter today that he would be following in his older brother’s footsteps. https://twitter.com/CameronKn1ght62/status/1129868205713965058 Knight becomes the fourth commit for IU in the 2020 class and the third from the state of Indiana. According to the 247Sports Composite, Knight is a 2-star recruit and the No. 23 ranked player in the state of Indiana. Knight also had an…
The Jeff Mercer era is off to a good start in Bloomington. Less than a year after being hired by Indiana, Mercer watched as his team made a dog pile in the infield after clinching the school’s first Big Ten title since 2014. In a must win situation, IU finished off the sweep of Rutgers with a 13-3 win on Saturday. The Hoosiers dominated the series this weekend at Bart Kaufman field, outscoring Rutgers 31-12 in the three games. A six running fourth inning from IU’s potent offense blew things open on Saturday, and another strong start from Andrew Saalfrank…
The pressure is on at Senior Day for the Hoosiers. Indiana knows exactly what it is up against today after Michigan split a doubleheader last night at Nebraska. The Hoosiers and Wolverines are presently tied atop the Big Ten standings at 16-7. Michigan has no more games remaining on its league schedule, and no one else can catch the two leaders at the top. What that means is simple. If Indiana wins its regular season finale today against Rutgers it will be crowned the outright Big Ten champion. If IU loses, that honor goes to Michigan. Fortunately for the Hoosiers,…
Former Indiana guard Romeo Langford is at the NBA Draft Combine this week in Chicago. While he still has a cast on his surgically repaired thumb, Langford is still participating in certain aspects of the Combine including meetings with NBA teams. The 6-foot-6 New Albany native met with the media to discuss his time at IU and expectations for the next level. https://youtu.be/UarXwlxOHwY https://youtu.be/ZywEIuJQrYw https://twitter.com/Stadium/status/1129478769834643458 Langford also appeared on ESPN: https://twitter.com/IndianaMBB/status/1130841049897869313 You can follow us on Twitter: @daily_hoosier Find us on Facebook: thedailyhoosier The Daily Hoosier –“Where Indiana fans assemble when they’re not at Assembly” Want to receive all of our content…
It seems that NBA Draft analysts are willing to take a much more holistic view of Indiana’s Romeo Langford than the voices in an unfortunate and loud vocal minority of Hoosier fans. “Bust.” “Overrated.” “Overhyped.” Those are just some of the common, albeit lazy refrains often belched out in conversations, social media and anywhere else that IU fans gather. “Not emotionally intelligent.” “Intellectually dishonest.” Those are other thoughts that come to mind, mine in fact, in reference to said fans. It isn’t entirely the fault of those fans oddly insistent on perpetual negativity. Langford was in fact hyped to ridiculous…
Indiana offered Massachusetts native Matt Cross in April after a huge first session of Nike EYBL play in Atlanta. The 6-foot-7 forward continued to put up big numbers at the second session in Westfield, Ind. Through eight games, Cross is now averaging 22.4 points per contest. He has added 7.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals. Playing on a struggling team, Cross has had to force the issue a bit which has made inefficient from the field. He is shooting 36.4 percent overall and 28.8 percent from long range. Cross is also making 82.1 percent of his free throws. Cross…
The IU men’s basketball program announced today that it will face UConn on December 10 in connection with the Jimmy V Classic in New York at the historic Madison Square Garden. The Huskies were 16-17 last year under first year head coach Dan Hurley. https://twitter.com/IndianaMBB/status/1129078137671880706 Indiana is 3-6 all-time against the Huskies. The teams last met in November of 2013 in a game that UConn won 59-58 in New York. IU’s last win in the series was a 2007 game in Hartford. This is both IU and UConn’s fourth appearance in the event. Louisville will face Texas Tech in the…
After back-to-back extra innings losses over the last four days, it would be understandable if members of the IU baseball team were frustrated at the moment. But it’s time to move on. While the last two games have been bitter pills to swallow, all of IU’s goals are still in front of them, and they will have a chance to capture the first objective in its final 2019 Big Ten series beginning on Thursday. Indiana welcomes Rutgers into Bart Kaufman Field for a three games series today. The Hoosiers will need help, but a strong series against the Scarlet Knights…
I’ll admit, I wasn’t blown away watching DJ Steward on Friday night in Westfield, Ind. in connection with session two of the 2019 Nike EYBL. Steward didn’t start and scored just 11 points on 4-for-16 shooting. But then the Chicago native went for 29 points on Saturday morning, and 37 more that afternoon. He wasn’t finished. The 6-foot-3 combo guard saved the best for last, exploding for 46 points and knocking down a dramatic game-winner at the buzzer against Vegas Elite. Consider me blown away. Playing for the Chicago based MeanStreets AAU program, Steward is averaging 25.9 points, 5.0 rebounds…
