Things have progressed from uncertain to promising for a major missing piece from last year’s IU basketball team. At this time last year, not many people knew who Indiana running back Stevie Scott was. It didn’t take long for that change.  Scott took over mid-game in week one against Florida International and quickly became a household name. By the time he was finished, Scott had set Indiana true freshman records with 1,137 yards, 228 attempts, 10 touchdowns and six 100-yard games. Indiana head coach Tom Allen announced on Monday that redshirt freshman Michael Penix is the new starting quarterback for the Hoosiers. The 6-foot-3 Tampa product discussed the news with the media on Monday. The Indiana coaching staff has no concerns about redshirt freshman quarterback Michael Penix’s knee. And they have no doubt about his arm. IU head coach Tom Allen named Penix the starting quarterback for the 2019 season on Monday morning following a competitive three-way battle for the job at the team’s fall camp.  Indiana will open the season on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis against Ball State.
