After an impressive performance in Atlanta on the Nike EYBL AAU circuit, Indiana has extended an offer to Massachusetts forward Matthew Cross. The offer was announced by Mike Yagmin on Twitter: https://twitter.com/MikeYagmin/status/1122692949115113472 Hailing from Beverly, Massachusetts, Cross attends Woodstock Academy in Connecticut. The 6-foot-7 wing averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds per game as a junior, but it was his performance this past weekend that has garnered more attention including the offer from IU. Playing for BABC, Cross had a huge weekend in Atlanta, averaging 22 points over four games. He showed a complete game to go with his scoring…

Indiana head football coach Tom Allen continues to have success on the recruiting trail, and IU may have never had a bigger commitment than this. Class of 2020 wide receiver Rashawn William announced his verbal commitment to IU on Monday via Twitter: https://twitter.com/troule19/status/1122899581803597825 The Detroit native is ranked the 166th best player overall in the 2020 class according to the 247Sports Composite. That ranking is believed to be the highest for an IU commit during the recruiting service rankings era, a mark that was previously held by 2019 signee Sampson James. Williams is the No. 33 wide receiver nationally and…
With only one live recruiting period in the month of April, it was all systems go this weekend for Archie Miller and his Indiana basketball coaching staff. Under the new reforms recommended by the Rice Commission last summer, April 26-28 was the only time during the spring that college basketball coaches were allowed to watch recruits play in person. With major AAU events being held at different locations around the country, it was time to divide and conquer as the IU staff covered as much ground and as many prospects as possible. Here is a summary of where Miller and…
This story will be updated as more signings are announced. Sunday note: We are still monitoring updates and expect a couple more today. The 2019 NFL Draft is complete and for the sixth straight year a Hoosier has been picked. Guard Wes Martin was selected in the fourth round by the Washington Redskins. For several undrafted players, the story will continue as well. Multiple former IU players are likely to get an opportunity in training camps this summer as undrafted free agents. Check back here as we update the list of Hoosiers that sign with NFL teams. Safety Jonathan Crawford…
Former Indiana University guard Wes Martin has been drafted by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Martin was the 131st overall selection. https://twitter.com/IndianaFootball/status/1122196744257798144 Martin was widely expected to be drafted, but the fourth round selection was sooner than what most services had predicted. Although he was not invited to the NFL Combine, a strong showing at IU’s pro day might have contributed. Hailing from West Milton, Ohio, Martin started the final 37 games of his career and made 43 overall starts. He is one of four Hoosiers to appear in 50 games. Martin was…
Only seven players that saw the floor from the 2018-19 Indiana basketball team will be back for the 2019-20 campaign as of this writing. While formal practices have concluded, the work never stops for high major college basketball players. Growth and development happens in the offseason, in individual workouts and permitted organized team activities. If you could talk to each of the seven returning players about their 2018-19 season and what they need to improve going forward, what would you say? We play Archie for a day and give it a shot with “Exit Interviews.” AL DURHAM, JR. Quick 2018-19 Recap:…
With recruiting back in full swing and attention quickly starting to shift to the class of 2020, The Daily Hoosier will be following the key names to know on the radar of the Indiana basketball program. Class of 2020 big man Kiyron Powell may be the best Indiana high school basketball player that people outside of the southwestern part of the state don’t yet know about. But the drumbeat is growing louder — and Powell appears to be on a fast track to being a name that everyone knows by this time next year. The noise coming out of the…
The Indiana University football program has seen its former players get drafted into the NFL for five consecutive years. If that streak is going to continue into 2019, it probably won’t happen until the later rounds. That is going to make for some nervous moments for several former Hoosiers. While getting drafted into the league is no guarantee of a roster spot, it is a badge of honor, and an acknowledgement of years of hard work. Being drafted also comes with greater potential financial rewards. At least five former players will be watching the middle to late rounds of the…
It’s no secret that Indiana hasn’t finished off its 2019 recruiting class the way it had hoped. At least not yet anyway — and the clock is ticking. Sure there are still targets on the board, but Archie Miller and his staff have for the most part been swinging and missing over the last few months save for the signing of graduate transfer Joey Brunk. So what’s next? To use Miller’s own phrase — you keep pounding the rock. And you get back to your guiding principles. This is what Miller said at his introductory press conference back in 2017…
You knew about Romeo Langford and Devonte Green. Now add two more IU names to the NBA Draft early entry list. The league released its official list of early entry candidates last night and couple more Hoosier names appeared. Guard Al Durham and forward Justin Smith have both also entered their names for consideration. Both players just completed their sophomore seasons at Indiana. Smith averaged 8.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for 2018-19 season while shooting 49.6% from the field overall and 21.9% from behind the three-point line. Durham averaged 8.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game…
