Indiana head basketball coach Archie Miller believes that Indiana can do damage in the 2019 NCAA Tournament. He said this after Thursday’s disappointing Big Ten Tournament loss to Ohio State. “I know if we are in the tournament, I believe our guys are capable of winning a game,” Miller told the media. “For me to speculate, it’s hard. I know this, our league is the toughest in the country this season and to play the schedule that we’ve played and sorta come up with our head above water these last three weeks is a good sign. “We’ll take whatever they…

Don’t take this the wrong way. Keion Brooks, Jr. is a big miss for Archie Miller. A huge miss, as any in-state five-star recruit would be. But if, and this is a big if — IF Jerome Hunter is back and ready to go next fall, Brooks Jr. wasn’t the biggest need for Indiana in 2018-19. Not even close. Based on what we’ve been told, Hunter doesn’t have an injury, but a medical condition. That’s the if part of it. We don’t know for sure that the Ohio native will be able to play next year, but things certainly seem…
Fort Wayne, Indiana native and five star class of 2019 recruiting target Keion Brooks, Jr. has chosen to attend the University of Kentucky. Brooks Jr. is the first major in-state recruiting loss for Indiana head coach Archie Miller after several big wins in the state of Indiana including Romeo Langford, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Armaan Franklin, Damezi Anderson and Rob Phinisee. Jackson-Davis and Franklin are the current two members of Indiana’s 2019 class. The Hoosiers are still in pursuit of several additional 2019 targets and will also likely pursue the graduate transfer and junior college avenues to fill any scholarship openings. You…

Kentucky isn’t right for everyone. Reverse psychology on a teenager? Maybe. But it seems Wildcat head coach John Calipari’s go to selling point is right. It just may not always be for the same reason that he has been pitching to recruits through the years. After going back and looking at Calipari’s recruiting classes since his arrival at Lexington in 2009, one thing seems clear — if you are not a top 15 recruit, and your goal is to jump to the NBA after one season — then Kentucky isn’t right for you. The more apt description? Kentucky is a…
Indiana lost to Ohio State on Thursday afternoon at the Big Ten Tournament in Chicago. The Hoosiers (17-15) will await their postseason fate on Sunday night. THREE KEYS TO THE GAME 1. Indiana doesn’t take care of the ball. A key part of Indiana’s four game winning streak was that it kept turnovers to a minimum. The Hoosiers had single digit turnovers in the last three games. Today IU had 17 miscues for a 23% turnover rate, as the issue plagued the team throughout the game. Four different IU players had three or more turnovers, and Ohio State was able…
There are some things in March that you can practically set your watch to. The weather warms up, some early ambitious blooms appear, the birds start chirping, and Purdue chokes in the NCAA tournament. Ah, what a glorious time it is indeed. Unfortunately for Indiana fans we have our own unpleasantness to contend with in March — The Big Ten Tournament. It’s the gift that keeps on giving, year after miserable year whether the Hoosiers are Big Ten champions or just another team. Today we go back to the very beginning, to a legendary coach that didn’t want to see…
