It might be overstating it to say that this 2018-19 IU basketball season is in crisis mode, but it is starting to feel that way.  A once promising 12-2 start now finds the Hoosiers on a three game losing streak as Indiana suffers its first home loss in league play against Nebraska on Monday night. The Huskers ran out to 26-9 lead, and Indiana could never bridge the gap from there.  The Hoosiers got as close as three, cutting the Nebraska lead to 35-32 early in the second half,  but Nebraska had all of the answers in this one. Indiana…

It’s back home to the friendly confines of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Monday night for another difficult Big Ten contest against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Indiana will be looking to avoid a three game losing streak after losses on the road to Michigan and Maryland.  With four of the next five back out on the road after this one, picking up a win over Nebraska is critical.  The Huskers were able to snap their own two game losing streak (road losses to Maryland and Iowa) with a home win over Penn State on Thursday. The Hoosiers will have their hands…

The expectations were sky high coming in. Romeo Langford has been good from day one, but there were legitimate concerns, especially in light of those expectations. The perimeter shots weren’t falling.  Neither were the free throws.  Perhaps Langford was just an uber-talented player that would put the finishing touches on his game in the NBA. If you blinked you might have missed it, but now Langford is firmly on the first team All-Big Ten radar, and he is doing it by continuously expanding his game. Each night out you can pick up something new that the McDonald’s All-American has added…

Indiana is still looking for a complete game. After Sunday’s loss to Michigan, IU head coach Archie Miller indicated that a lack of toughness at the start of games was the culprit for the Hoosiers repeatedly finding themselves playing from behind. This time it was Indiana that ran out to the early lead, but the Hoosiers could not sustain it.  As a result, IU is on its first losing streak of the season. Although they suffered their fourth road loss in five tries on the season, Indiana did get some good news as freshman point guard Rob Phinisee returned from…

Familiar faces returned to the IU lineup, but the story on the road remained the same. The rigors of Big Ten play are here. Indiana seemed to get an early boost from the return of freshman point guard Rob Phinisee and junior big man De’Ron Davis, but that energy quickly dissipated and IU fell to 1-4 in true road games. Indiana finds itself on its first losing streak of the season as the Hoosiers gave away an early lead at Maryland on Friday night.  Despite a 28 point game from freshman Romeo Langford, the Hoosiers could never recover after falling…
