While a visit from Iowa generally doesn’t generate the buzz that say a Duke, Michigan State or Purdue might, that wasn’t the case in 2016. It had been a while since Iowa had a top 10 team. In fact, you’d have to go back to the Dr. Tom Davis teams of the 80’s and 90’s to find a Hawkeye team ranked this high this late in the season. Think of Roy Marble Sr., B.J. Armstrong and those cool all black and yellow Nike high-tops. But coming into their February 11, 2016 matchup with Indiana (19-5, 9-2), the Hawkeyes (19-4, 10-1)…

What do you know? A home game. After spending the better part of January and early February at the airport, Indiana gets to stick around Bloomington for more than a week. First up at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall are the Iowa Hawkeyes. IU earned the season sweep last year, but they will essentially be seeing the same team once again in 2019 as Iowa returned almost all of its production from the 2017-18 season. All of that experience is paying off thus far for Iowa. They are significantly improved over last year and will present a major challenge for an…

Further below are videos of Cook and Garza. Indiana (13-9, 4-7) and Iowa (17-5, 6-5) tip-off at 9:00 p.m. Eastern on Thursday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. McCAFFERY TRANSCRIPT Q. What are you seeing from Indiana? They were going through a rough patch and all of a sudden they turn around and get a win in Michigan State. FRAN McCAFFERY: You have to look at the situation. It’s kind of…

Back on January 5th, Indiana sat at 12-2 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten. All of the talk on that day before a road trip to Michigan was the upcoming brutal eight game schedule. If they could just get through those eight games at .500, right? Not so much. Indiana of course won only one of those eight games — strangely enough the one that probably seemed the least winnable a month ago. Much like the Midwest weather this time of year, it was long, dark, cold month. Coming into Groundhog Day, the IU season was starting to feel…
[For Indiana Football National Signing Day updates, go to our live tracker here.] Here we go again. After an impressive December early signing period haul, the Indiana University football program is looking to put a bow on what appears on track to be their best recruiting class in the rankings service era. The Hoosiers picked up 19 signed letters of intent in December. Wednesday marks the traditional February national signing day, and it looks to be a hectic one for head coach Tom Allen and the Hoosiers as they close out their class of 2019. After receiving the commitment of…
Indiana fans can apparently exhale. Senior co-captain and preseason All-Big Ten forward Juwan Morgan returned to practice on Monday according to Indiana head basketball coach Archie Miller on his weekly radio show with Don Fischer. Morgan left Saturday’s game against Michigan State in the first half with a left shoulder injury. The Missouri native injured the same shoulder as a freshman and required surgery at the end of that season. It sounds like Morgan should be ready for Thursday night’s contest against Iowa. Miller indicated “He’s not 100 percent but hopefully by the end of the week he’s feeling better without…
Archie Miller wasn’t lying. Perhaps he was being a little coy, but he wasn’t lying. The second year Hoosier head coach said this on Friday afternoon to a pool of reporters in response to a question on the health of junior forward De’Ron Davis: “We’re looking at De’Ron as that February target of trying to get back in the mix, so I think he’s going to start to really try to jump back in, so to speak, into practice.” He did say February target — and Indiana’s game against Michigan State was in February. But that sure didn’t sound like…
