Drastic changes, same outcome. Indiana found something between their embarrassing road loss at Minnesota on Saturday and their game against Purdue on Tuesday night.  Energy, hustle, grit, determination — they were all on display in a manner that we haven’t witnessed all season from this 2018-19 Indiana basketball team. What wasn’t on display was an ability to make shots.  Close range, long range, free throws, fast breaks, — nothing was going down in a performance that was Indiana’s worst of the season from the field. Indiana lost to Purdue on Tuesday night to fall to 13-13 overall and 4-11 in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers return to action on Friday night at Iowa. The time for thinking about the NCAA tournament has passed.  The time for just trying to get a win has passed.  The time for feeling sorry for yourself has passed. It is time to have some pride.  And it is time to get mad. And therein lies the question. While snow falls in Indiana, the Hoosier baseball season is officially underway. Although the weather played a role in the season opening series, IU and Memphis managed to get in three games this past weekend, with the Hoosiers coming out on top 2-1 in the series. After Friday’s contest was postponed due to the conditions, the Hoosiers and Tigers played a doubleheader on Saturday in the cold, and then capped off the series on Sunday afternoon. We adapted this story that was published just prior to Purdue’s visit to Indiana in 2018.  Unfortunately, it is still all too relevant in 2019. Whether it is the national rankings, KenPom, the NET or just common sense,  all signs point in the same direction — Purdue is better than Indiana this year. It has been a long three months for Indiana redshirt freshman Race Thompson. A lot longer than that, really. After suffering a serious concussion in practice in November, the Hoosier forward has had to watch from the sidelines as his team has gone through the highs and lows of this crazy 2018-19 season.
