His name has been out there for months as a possibility, but there had been no offer. That changed today as Indiana offered class of 2019 combo guard Harlond Beverly as it looks to continue to expand on its next incoming group of recruits. Adam Zagoria broke the news via Twitter: https://twitter.com/AdamZagoria/status/1095689204212862976 This latest offer provides further evidence that Indiana is pursuing a recruiting class of more than its current allotted scholarships.  Earlier this week we shared the news that IU was in the “top seven” of Lester Quinones, another 2019 guard. While Quinones appears to be more of a…

Not that long ago I came across this profile of a former Indiana University basketball player: No. 8 all-time scoring list No. 5 all-time in assists No. 10 all-time steals Tied for the most all-time wins 43.7% career three-point shooter Big Ten Freshman of the Year First team All-Big Ten IU Hall of Fame Legendary, right?  Of course it is. Believe it or not, there was a time when I managed to convince myself that this IU basketball career was a bit of a disappointment. That’s the thing about hype.  When it reaches mania levels, expectations become unhinged from reality.…

Ordinarily we would tell you to not overly concern yourself with the starting lineup. In general, it’s often merely a suggestion, and doesn’t necessarily reflect what is to come throughout the game. But then there is this: vs. Ohio State:  11-2 vs. Iowa:  9-2 vs. Michigan:  20-2 at Purdue:  11-2 vs. Nebraska:  26-9 at Michigan:  30-13 vs. Illinois: 25-15 at Penn State: 9-0 Those are Indiana’s starts to 8 of their 13 Big Ten contests thus far. To be sure, there were a couple good starts to games interspersed in that mess.  But those bad starts should happen once or…

With Indiana struggling to score from the perimeter, enter a new name in the class of 2019 mix. Four-star guard Lester Quinones announced his final seven today and IU made the cut: https://twitter.com/TiptonEdits/status/1094736906091446275 Originally from Long Island, New York, Quinones is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard that excels at making three-pointers. He told Prep Circuit that Indiana came into the picture late but has been active with him recently: Indiana: “They came in just a little while ago and Coach Archie Miller has been texting me and my high school coaches lately. They need a scorer and shooter to come in right…

It was cliche before the game to call Sunday’s contest against Ohio State a “must win.”  It would be equally cliche to say now after IU’s ninth loss in ten games that it “isn’t over until it’s over.” But at least as far as the NCAA Tournament goes, it sure seems like IU’s hopes went down the drain in Bloomington on Sunday afternoon.  There are simply no breaks in the schedule, and this Indiana team continues to show absolutely nothing that would lead you to believe that they have any kind of late season rally in them. At this point,…

It is becoming more and more difficult to wrap your mind around this season and what has transpired since a 12-2 start that had Indiana firmly in the top 25 nationally. That seems like a distant memory as the Hoosiers dropped their ninth game in ten tries against Ohio State on Sunday afternoon.  This one particularly stings, as for the first time this year the NCAA Tournament now seems out of reach.  Of course a late season run could salvage a spot in the big dance, but that seems like an impossibility from where things stand right now. Indiana (13-11,…

It is as cliche as it gets, but Sunday afternoon’s tilt against the Ohio State Buckeyes certainly seems like a must win game for Indiana. It’s a must win in the sense that there may not be room for the likes of both Ohio State and Indiana, and their similar resumes, in the NCAA tournament.  In that vein, it would especially problematic for the Hoosiers if Ohio State ends up holding a road win in Bloomington. It’s a must win also because there isn’t a game in the next six contests that Indiana has a better chance on paper to…
