Indiana returned to action on Thursday night after a prolonged holiday break. Despite the rest, their habits from 2018 remain fully intact. But so are the Hoosiers’ winning ways. IU is on a seven game winning streak, marking their longest such run since the 2015-16 season when they reeled off 12 in a row on their way to an outright Big Ten title. The Hoosiers are also 3-0 in the Big Ten for the first team since that season. Yet another slow start resulted in a 25-15 first half deficit against Illinois. The Hoosiers are no stranger to slow starts,…

Eleven days off didn’t change much. The broken record plays on, as Indiana once again falls behind early, only to flip the script and pull away from Illinois as Big Ten play restarts. The Illini were able to make it interesting late, but a 47-25 run by Indiana after falling behind by 10 was too much to overcome. Indiana moves to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers will play at Michigan on Sunday at 4:30 eastern. That would appear to be a game where Indiana would be unable to recover from a big early deficit. See…

Indiana basketball is back. Finally. But not everyone is back. After 11 days off, the Hoosiers will resume Big Ten play on Thursday night without starting point guard Rob Phinisee. The freshman suffered a concussion on December 19th against Central Arkansas and has not returned to practice since. It is an inopportune time for IU to be without its starting point guard, as they face an Illinois team that likes to play aggressive pressure defense. Already without significant guard depth, Indiana head coach Archie Miller referred to the Hoosiers ability to handle the Illini pressure as the “story of the…

Phinisee suffered the concussion on December 19th. Miller also indicated that Jerome Hunter and Race Thompson are not expected back in the short term. Juwan Morgan and Evan Fitzner also took questions and…
The IU football program is in the process of replacing its second coordinator in a matter of weeks. The defensive coordinator change was a fairly straightforward process. Tom Allen had his ace in the hole. The offensive coordinator job is a bit more complicated. Allen’s decision may impact his own career at IU. He has to get this one right. We are hearing from multiple sources that this will be a national search. While an in house promotion is possible, it isn’t likely for this one. One thing to keep an eye on will be whether the Hoosiers can find…
The 2018-19 NBA season is now well underway, and eight former IU basketball stars are back at it. We will be monitoring their seasons with monthly updates. Below we summarize their year to date performance through the end of December. OG Anunoby – Toronto Anunoby is primarily coming off the bench but that hasn’t significantly impacted his minutes per game thus far. He had a 21 point game in a contest he started on Dec. 21, but so far has yet to have a substantial break-out in year number two. His free throw shooting has gotten to the point of…
