Former IU basketball star Damon Bailey was never about individual accomplishments.  The consummate teammate, the Heltonville, Indiana native has said on multiple occasions that he just wanted to win. And win he did.  In high school he led his Bedford North Lawrence team to the state’s final four in three out of his four seasons.  The Stars won a state championship in 1990. When he left IU in 1994, he was tied for the most career wins as a Hoosier (108) with Quinn Buckner. Over the course of racking up all of those wins, Bailey of course accumulated several individual…

If you ask anyone who the top college basketball coaches are right now across the country, Michigan head coach John Beilein is highly likely to be mentioned in the top ten, if not the top five. With two Final Fours and an Elite Eight appearance in the last six seasons, the Wolverine head coach has earned it. But it wasn’t always that way. 46-53. That was Beilein’s record through his first three seasons in Ann Arbor.  Although his contract had just been extended, the masses were howling in 2010 for the Wolverines to fire him. It wasn’t just the typical…

Make that six in a row. This 2018-19 Indiana season has tanked so far and so fast that it is beyond comprehension at this point.  Visions of Phinisee buzzer beaters and a seven game winning streak now seem so distant — it’s like it never happened. How did we get here?  Quite simply, this Indiana team has regressed — and regressed significantly.  There is no confidence outside of Juwan Morgan.  Not in the ability to make shots, not in the ability to run the offense, and not in the ability to get key defensive stops. In the end, Indiana suffered…

Rapid reaction from an Indiana 69-46 loss to Michigan. If you thought it couldn’t get worse at the start of games, you were wrong.  A 17-0 Michigan run from the opening tip ensured that.  The Hoosiers didn’t make their first basket from the field until there were 10 minutes left in the first half. If you thought Indiana couldn’t possibly shoot the ball worse from the field, you were wrong.  A season worst 27.6% from the field ensured that. If you thought this season couldn’t get more bizarre, you were wrong.  Public address announcer Chuck Crabb calling out the shot…

Indiana head football coach Tom Allen’s tenure in Bloomington has become synonymous with the word “breakthrough.”  It should come as no surprise then that he had his eye on Kalen DeBoer for the offensive coordinator position. No one has seen more breaking through in the last few years than DeBoer. As the offensive coordinator at Eastern Michigan in 2016, DeBoer was an instrumental part of an Eagle team that finished tied for the most improved program in the Football Bowl Subdivision.  EMU bettered its win total from one win in 2015, to seven, and the program reached its first bowl…
