For Indiana fans, it has been a long time coming. For the first time in nearly two years (January of 2017), the Indiana University men’s basketball program finds itself back in the national rankings. To be sure, it is a tenuous spot in the polls at best — but you take what you can get after such a long drought. Indiana is in a three-way tie at No. 25 in the latest AP poll released today. The appearance in the poll marks the first time under head coach Archie Miller that Indiana has earned a national ranking. Indiana (8-2) sits…

Hoosier Nation lost one of its really good players in the program’s storied history, and by all accounts, a better person yesterday. Multiple outlets are reporting that former IU forward Eric Anderson passed away at the age of 48. The cause of death has not been disclosed. The Chicago native attended St. Francis DeSales High School and was named the 1988 Illinois Mr. Basketball. A 1988 McDonald’s All-American, Anderson came to Bloomington with high expectations and he immediately lived up to them. He was named the 1989 Big 10 Freshman of the Year as part of IU’s Big Ten title team,…
Indiana class of 2019 commit Trayce Jackson-Davis and his Center Grove Trojans faced off last night at Southport High School against recruiting target Keion Brooks, Jr. and the La Lumiere Lakers. Jackson-Davis and Brooks were teammates on the Nike EYBL AAU circuit for the Indy Heat. The game also featured La Lumiere’s class of 2019 five star Isaiah Stewart, who after a slow start, took over in the 4th quarter, scoring 12 points in the game’s final segment. He is #33 for La Lumiere in the video below. While some have suggested that IU is still in the hunt for…
After two straight two point wins in Big Ten play, IU found a way to make things even closer. But they also found a way to win again — their third in a row after the loss to Duke, with all three wins coming against respectable opponents. Louisville is a good team. Chris Mack is a really good coach. The Cardinals are going to be the real deal down the road. Any kind of win against a team like this is a good win, and can only help the resume in March. Indiana fell behind early 14-6 and had to…

For a while it seemed like Indiana would never get over the hump, but the Hoosiers broke through in the final eight minutes of the game to defeat a tough Louisville team by the final score of 68-67. The Hoosiers improve to 8-2 on the season and earn a win that will provide a major resume boost for the NCAA tournament. Indiana returns to action on Saturday against Butler in Indianapolis. The quest for a ninth national title for the IU men’s soccer program will carry into 2019. Indiana had defeated Maryland during the regular season and took down the Terrapins in the Big Ten tournament championship game on penalty kicks. On the game’s biggest stage at the College Cup in Santa Barbara, California, however, it was Maryland that made the big plays. The Terrapins won by a final score of 2-0. Maryland scored a first half goal in the 37th minute off a corner kick that IU was unable to clear. https://twitter.com/NCAASoccer/status/1071257636320894976 After the Terrapin goal, Indiana increased its attack…
There’s a big one on tap in Bloomington this weekend as the Louisville Cardinals come to town. Louisville has moved on from Rick Pitino and David Padgett over the last year and hired new head coach Chris Mack. The former Xavier leader has the Cardinals at 6-2 and playing better than many expected in his first year. Mack and Louisville leading scorer Jordan Nwora met with the media on Friday to discuss Indiana. Both teams are unranked, but both are close to the top 25. The winner has a good chance of being ranked on Monday. Other game coverage: How…
It’s a border war on Saturday afternoon in Bloomington. With it being only the 20th ever meeting between Louisville and Indiana, it would be difficult to call this a rivalry game. But maybe it should be? The schools are only a two-hour drive apart, compete for the same talent, and have geographically overlapping fan bases. One thing that most Indiana and Louisville fans would agree on is that this is a game that should be on the schedule every year. Instead, it is Louisville’s first trip to Bloomington since 2002. This is the final game of a scheduled three game…
