Big Ten play arrives for a quick two game test run on Saturday as the Northwestern Wildcats visit Bloomington. Coming on the heels of a disappointing loss at Duke on Tuesday, Indiana needs to play well on its home floor to get off to a good start in league play and avoid a losing streak.  With four consecutive games forthcoming against KenPom top 60 opponents, these next few weeks will be a good gauge of where the Hoosiers stand. IU head coach Archie Miller shared a bit of good news at his press conference on Friday, indicating that except for…

You’re forgiven if you didn’t see this coming. When not one, but two program all-timers graduated after a magical 2018 WNIT championship run, it was reasonable to believe that the Indiana women’s basketball team might take a step back.  Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill were that important. Here we are eight months later, and IU head basketball coach Teri Moren has the Hoosiers off to a 6-0 start — the best start to a season for the fifth year program leader. How is this possible?  While we don’t always have the patience to allow coaches to build-up a program, that’s…

– Originally Published April 12, 2018 – Hoosier fans should pat themselves on the back.  It seems like every time someone does a documentary or feature interview involving Indiana basketball, there is a paywall involved.  Whether it was the Showtime special on the 1976 team, the Joe Buck interview of Bob Knight, or ESPN’s 30 for 30 on Bob Knight’s firing at IU, the networks assume that the large and passionate Hoosier Nation will open their wallets. Hidden behind a paywall for more than seven months, the network finally aired the documentary on television on Thursday night.  Below is the…

*Checks calendar* Yes, it is still November, but for the second year in a row and presumably from now on, Big Ten basketball is about to begin.  Starting this weekend, teams will play two league games in early December before resuming pre-conference action.  Teams will then pick things back up in late December on the conference’s more traditional schedule. With the benefit of three weeks of the season under our belts, it is time to predict the 2018-19 Big Ten conference basketball race. Predictions are of course more for entertainment than anything else — but one things seems clear.  This…

Adapted from an IU release — SECOND TEAM ALL BIG  TEN Logan Justus Justus continues the Hoosiers run of all-conference kickers as Griffin Oakes earned Bakken-Andersen Kicker of the Year and first team accolades in 2015 and 2017, and Mitch Ewald collected second team laurels in 2013. One of 20 semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award, Justus finished the…

It was reality check time in Durham, North Carolina on Tuesday night, as Indiana walked into a buzz saw.  The Hoosiers seemed to walk willingly into that buzz saw, with countless mistakes of their own doing that ultimately doomed them. Duke extended the lead into double figures less than seven minutes into the game, and really never looked back.  A combination of IU turnovers, poor shooting, and a slow reacting defense made sure of that. On the positive side, IU is starting to get healthy again, with Zach McRoberts and Devonte Green returning to action after extended layoffs.  Both will…
