We always welcome the opportunity to discuss IU basketball, and enjoyed our discussion today with Ben Malcomson of Hoosiers United on his Hoosier Heartland Podcast. We covered a lot of ground including observations on the big win over Marquette, looking forward to Arkansas, the Jerome Hunter injury situation and much more. We encourage you to take a listen and thank Ben for the opportunity. https://soundcloud.com/user-810324012/hh-special-guest-mike-schumann-final You can follow us on Twitter: @daily_hoosier Find us on Facebook: thedailyhoosier Want to receive all of our content via one e-mail in your inbox every day? The Indiana Hoosiers (5-5) are going to have their hands full on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. for a tilt at the Big House with the No. 4 ranked Michigan Wolverines. The good news — IU has taken the Wolverines into overtime in two of the last three years. The bad news — the Hoosiers haven’t defeated Michigan since 1987, and as a big road underdog, that doesn’t appear likely to change this year, especially not on their Senior Day. “But that’s why they play the game.” And people are talking about that game, including Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh…
Indiana University head coach Tom Allen joined the legendary voice of IU Athletics Don Fischer to look back on last week’s thrilling win over Maryland and preview Saturday’s major road challenge at No. 4 Michigan. The Hoosiers stand at 5-5 on the season and need one more win to achieve bowl eligibility and improve on last year’s five win campaign. Fischer is joined later in the program by IU players Sam Slusher and Connor Thomas. https://www.facebook.com/IndianaFootball/videos/551895681905477/ Video Credit – IU Athletics You can follow us on Twitter: @daily_hoosier Find us on Facebook: thedailyhoosier Want to receive all of our content via one…
The Indiana University basketball program released the following brief statement on Thursday afternoon: “Hunter Undergoes Surgery; Will Remain Out Indefinitely Indiana University men’s basketball coach Archie Miller announced today that freshman Jerome Hunter underwent surgery Wednesday evening at the Cleveland Clinic to treat a lower body condition that first developed early in the semester. His is recovering from the procedure and hopes to return to campus next week. Hunter, who has not seen any game action, will remain out indefinitely. Due to HIPPA [sic] laws, the program is not allowed to comment on specifics of the condition.” No further information…
At full strength, a 23 point win over No. 24 ranked Marquette would be impressive. Indiana was nowhere near full strength on Wednesday night — and it doesn’t look like they will be for a while. While Indiana played very well on Wednesday, the injury situation should not be taken lightly. IU is missing critical pieces and has a challenging schedule coming up, including multiple tough road games. Senior Zach McRoberts is a starter and team captain. Junior guard Devonte Green is clearly a key player in the rotation and may have been an opening day starter were it not…
Drawing energy from a raucous home crowd, Indiana came out fast against No. 24 Marquette and never let up, securing it’s first big win of the season. It is fair to say that this was one of the Hoosiers’ most complete efforts against a ranked opponent in a long, long time, as Indiana ran away with it by a score of 96-73. After Marquette scored the first two points of the game, IU responded with a 19-4 run and really never looked back. The Golden Eagles were able to pull back to within 29-22 later in the first half –…
Marquette head coach Steve Wojciechowski met with the media after Indiana’s 96-63 win over the Golden Eagles on Wednesday night. His comments on Indiana are below: OPENING STATEMENT “Indiana and Archie, they were fantastic tonight. We knew it was going to be a very difficult place to play. I’ve been in Assembly one other time during my basketball life and it’s one of the hardest places to play in the United States, and it’s essential when you play in this building to get off to a great start and we got off to the opposite of a great start and…

Indiana passed its first big test of the season with flying colors, dominating Marquette from the outset and never letting off the gas. The Hoosiers move to 3-0 on the season and will now face their first big road test when they travel to Arkansas on Sunday. THREE KEYS 1. Freshmen shine with a limited roster. With Zach McRoberts and Devonte Green out with injuries, that meant bigger minutes for younger guys like Romeo Langford, Rob Phinisee and Damezi Anderson. All three played well, and Langford and Phinisee were particularly impressive. 2. The defense got things rolling. Indiana had four…
