The Hoosiers moved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing 80-35 win over the Montana State Bobcats.  The schedule will get more challenging next week with a home game against Marquette and a road contest at Arkansas, but on this night IU put forth a complete effort. Friday night’s contest was dominated by IU for most of the game, with the Hoosiers holding a lead of 30 or more points for the last 18 minutes of the game.  Several big runs in the first half and beginning of the second half put the game out of reach. Indiana had a complete effort in its second game of the 2018-19 season to move to 2-0 on the young campaign. The Hoosiers will resume action on Wednesday night at home against Marquette. It feels like an eternity since Indiana has played a football game.  The Hoosiers are coming off a bye week after a demoralizing loss at Minnesota two weeks ago. It felt appropriate to call that game in Minneapolis a “must win” but with two home games remaining, that characterization was debatable.  Now, with IU needing two wins to reach bowl eligibility and a trip to Ann Arbor tucked in between those two home contests — it is undeniable — Indiana must defeat Maryland. Below are some interesting statistics and other noteworthy facts from IU’s season opening 104-55 win over Chicago State.  The Hoosiers resume action on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. on BTN.  You can view the complete IU basketball schedule here. IU eclipsed the century mark for the first time under Coach Miller. The team scored a season-high 87 points three times last year. In addition, the 39 field goals topped last season’s best of 33. After eight months of waiting, college basketball is back, as Indiana cruised to a season opening 104-55 win over Chicago State. It might not seem like a significant win against a team north of 300 in the KenPom rankings.  But in order to fully appreciate the victory, you have to look back to last year’s season opener against Indiana State, which the Hoosiers lost on their home floor by a score of 90-69.  While the Sycamores were a much better team than the Cougars, it is undeniable that the IU basketball program is in a much better place this time…
