In its media release for Thursday’s exhibition against Southern Indiana, the IU men’s basketball program released stats from its closed scrimmage against Loyola Chicago. While not a full box score, it does confirm some of what was rumored on social media, and also serves to further illuminate what appears to have been a solid defensive effort. Below is our original report. The Indiana University men’s basketball program competed against their first opponent in a different uniform on Sunday. The Hoosiers went head to head with the Loyola of Chicago Ramblers, a Final Four participant from last season. The scrimmage was…

Romeo Langford recently stated that Juwan Morgan was “probably one of the strongest people I ever went against.” A season of carrying a team on his back will build that kind of strength. That was the 2017-18 season. As a freshman we learned…
Indiana University head basketball coach Archie Miller joined the legendary voice of IU Athletics Don Fischer on the first episode of their 2018-19 series of weekly radio shows. Below you can see the video from the live show. Later in the show Fischer is joined by graduate transfer Evan Fitzner. Key notes from the show: Miller said that physically speaking, the incoming freshmen have come in really strong relatively speaking. He believes that the upperclassmen have carried things over very well from last year. Miller’s comments on the Loyola Chicago scrimmage: He had high praise for the Ramblers and the…
After a few days have passed it is a bit easier to take a look back at what was nothing short of an absolutely brutal Big Ten road loss for IU at Minnesota. Below you will find Tom Allen’s post game press conference, Peyton Ramsey’s Q&A session with the media after the game, and the game highlights. With the Hoosiers on bye this week, their normal weekly Monday press conference is taking the week off as well. The Hoosiers will play again on November 10 at home against Maryland. After a 4-1 start, they have lost five of their last six…
Chalk up another offer to the “inside out” initiative. There is certainly no shortage of high end talent in the Hoosier state in the class of 2021, and Fort Wayne based big man Caleb Furst is at or near the top of that list. Furst was in Bloomington on Saturday for an unofficial visit and reported the IU offer on Twitter: https://twitter.com/calebfurst/status/1056251674329792512 Furst is considered a top 50 recruit nationally in the class of 2021 and has been on IU’s radar for a long time. He has visited Bloomington previously and was also an attendee at Hoosier Hysteria back in…

We’ve been fawning over Zach McRoberts. From his return to the game to admiring his unrelenting effort despite not receiving a well deserved scholarship, it would be fair to call it a basketball crush. If you are just a casual…
We could write just another game story. Surely a dozen of them will be written. You might even read one of them. But here’s the real story. You can excuse Tom Allen and this Indiana football program for not being physically and athletically ready yet for the titans of the Big Ten. Minnesota is not a titan of the Big Ten, and for what happened on Friday night — there are no excuses. Having a young defense is no excuse. Minnesota’s offense is younger, and without their starting quarterback and running back. Having an offense that doesn’t make big plays…
The phrase “must win” is one of the most overused terms in sports. There is no way to know for sure until you look back on a season whether a game was truly must win. We’ll just say this about Friday night’s contest at Minnesota — it sure feels like a must win. Whoever wins this game is going get a boost of confidence, and renewed hope for the postseason. The loser is going to continue to watch their season spiral down the drain as one of their more winnable games becomes another missed opportunity. If the Hoosiers win on…
Fortunately for Indiana basketball, forward Race Thompson didn’t follow in the family footsteps. As you may know, his father is a legend at the University of Minnesota. Darrell Thompson played running back for the Golden Gophers and is still the Minnesota career record holder in rushing yards (4,654) and all-purpose yards (5,109). He went on to play for the Green Bay Packers for five seasons. Darrell picked up 98 of those 4,654 yards on this memorable play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePSDQYUduZM Interestingly, Darrell was at Minnesota during the same time (1986-89) that IU’s all-time leading rusher Anthony Thompson was at Indiana. He rushed…
