The drama continues for the Indiana University football program at the running back position.  Just over a week after starter Morgan Ellison was indefinitely suspended, his replacement Cole Gest has been lost for the season with a torn ACL.  The injury occurred during Saturday’s 38-28 IU win over Florida International. Gest had five carries for 17 yards on Saturday before leaving the game. At the conclusion of the 2017 season, the running position appeared to be a deep position of strength for IU.  Since then IU was hit with a wave of transfers that included Tyler Natee, Alex Rodriguez and Devonte Williams. …

After nine months of anticipation, the 2018 Indiana University football season finally kicked off on Saturday night.  The Hoosiers got a key road victory, 38-28 over Florida International.  IU will now play 7 of its final 11 games at home, including the next three at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. Saturday was cut day in the NFL as teams reduced rosters to their opening day 53-man squads.  Nine former Indiana University stars will be on the field when the season kicks off next week. It took a little adversity to jump start the Hoosiers’ 2018 season.  Interestingly enough, it was one of the youngest and smallest guys on the Hoosiers’ roster that provided the first spark. After a Peyton Ramsey interception on the first Indiana drive of the season led to a 7-0 Florida International lead,  true freshman Reese Taylor got the Hoosier offense going.  Taylor took a jet sweep from Ramsey and absorbed a big hit about 8 yards into his run.  He didn’t go down.  32 yards later, IU was on the FIU end of the field, and the team seem energized…
