The Indiana Hoosiers (14-12, 7-6) host the Nebraska Cornhuskers (19-7, 10-3) in the final regular season home game for the Indiana women’s basketball team.  The tip-off is set for Saturday at noon at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington.  The game will be televised on BTN. The game will mark the final home game for two program legends — Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill.  According to IU, a pregame ceremony will take place on the court about 20 minutes before the tip-off, and the two seniors will address the crowd after the conclusion of the game. In front of a love torn sparsely populated Valentine’s Day crowd, Illinois came out with a street fight mentality — and it worked for the first ten minutes.  The Illini ran out to a 12-8 lead as it forced turnovers and beat IU to offensive rebounds. Indiana woke up and went on 18-2 run to go up 26-14.  The Illini tried to turn up the pressure even more to start the second half, and it was effective at keeping them in the game, but the Hoosiers hang on in an ugly one.  It’s back out on the road on Saturday…

A lot has been made of Indiana’s 2018 recruiting class, and rightfully so.  It checks a lot of boxes for Hoosier fans, including two Indiana natives and a top 20 ranking.  Of course everyone knows by now that the ranking would likely be in the top 5 if the Hoosiers ultimately add New Albany’s Romeo Langford to the group. In their first meeting back in early January, Indiana shot 58% from the field in a dominant win over Purdue in Bloomington.  From the outset on Monday night, it was clear that the Boilers weren’t going to tolerate that kind of offensive efficiency from the Hoosiers.  This time around in West Lafayette the Boilers held IU to 37.7% shooting and blocked eight Hoosier shots. The problem for Purdue on this night was that Indiana’s defense was even better.  The Hoosiers aren’t necessarily known for their defense, ranking last in the Big Ten and 320th nationally in field goal percentage defense. …
