In 49 states, it’s just a game.  In the state of Indiana, we need our own power rankings.  Every week we’ll help settle the ongoing debate regarding who are the best college basketball teams in the state of Indiana. Here are the state of Indiana NCAA Division 1 men’s college basketball power rankings for the week ended February 11, 2018: Current Indiana teams in Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology:  Purdue (1), Butler (8). 1. Purdue Boilermakers (23-4, 12-2) (B1G) – A tough week for Purdue, no doubt, but they lost to two really good teams in two really close games.  The bigger question…

You know that a kid is special when a 31 point night feels like a disappointment.  That’s what happened last night when New Albany traveled to Madison and the Cubs threw double, triple, even quadruple teams at the state’s 4th all-time leading scorer.  Rumors of “hack-a-Romeo” even swirled. The New Albany Bulldogs proved that they are not a one trick pony, easily handling Madison 68-37 on the night.  Fellow Bulldog senior Sean East, an unheralded star in his own right, added 18 points on the night for New Albany. For Langford, who had scored 160 points in his 3 prior…

BTN put together an interesting segment on Juwan Morgan.  It really illustrates the multitude of ways that the junior forward contributes to the Hoosier program.  We’re all guilty of focusing on point totals first, but Morgan is leading this team in so many other ways.  Take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghrlX2zkZiY Oh, and if all of that wasn’t enough, he also got his career high in assists on Friday night against Minnesota with five. Another interesting way to look at Morgan’s performance is his improvement over his first three years at Indiana.  Take a look at the following year by year comparison:…

Indiana University recruiting target Romeo Langford has said that catching Damon Bailey and becoming Indiana’s all-time scoring leader is not a priority of his.  We might believe that it isn’t his top priority, but after scoring 160 points in his last three games, you have to believe that it is at least on his mind. Friday night’s victim was Providence, who was no match for Langford and the red hot New Albany Bulldogs.  Winners of 15 in a row, New Albany is on a roll, and once again Langford led the way scoring 53 points on the night. And when…

As the Indiana Hoosiers prepare to host the Minnesota Golden Gophers tonight at 7:30 in Bloomington, we thought we’d take a look at what the Minnesota media has to say about the contest: MINNESOTA’S ROSTER IS DEPLETED Any time that you have a problem, you can always take some degree of solace in the realization that somewhere out there someone has it worse.  Indiana’s roster was hit hard with injuries in the 2016-17 season, and IU has lost De’Ron Davis this year.  You have to say though that Minnesota probably has had it worse this year. As the Minneapolis Star…
