After nine months of anticipation, the 2018 Indiana University football season finally kicked off on Saturday night. The Hoosiers got a key road victory, 38-28 over Florida International. IU will now play 7 of its final 11 games at home, including the next three at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. With a lot of new faces on the roster and expected to play, there were a lot of unknowns going into Saturday’s contest with FIU. It’s still early in the season with a lot of remaining questions, but we learned a lot about this team on Saturday night. THIS IS WHY…
Saturday was cut day in the NFL as teams reduced rosters to their opening day 53-man squads. Nine former Indiana University stars will be on the field when the season kicks off next week. Nate Sudfeld will be a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Tevin Coleman will be a running back for the Atlanta Falcons. Jordan Howard will be a running back for the Chicago Bears. Cody Latimer will be a wide receiver for the New York Giants. Ian Thomas will be a tight end for the Carolina Panthers. Dan Feeney will be a guard for the Los Angeles Chargers.…
It took a little adversity to jump start the Hoosiers’ 2018 season. Interestingly enough, it was one of the youngest and smallest guys on the Hoosiers’ roster that provided the first spark. After a Peyton Ramsey interception on the first Indiana drive of the season led to a 7-0 Florida International lead, true freshman Reese Taylor got the Hoosier offense going. Taylor took a jet sweep from Ramsey and absorbed a big hit about 8 yards into his run. He didn’t go down. 32 yards later, IU was on the FIU end of the field, and the team seem energized…

It’s the best time of year — college football is beginning — and Indiana sits atop the Big Ten standings that may or may not be in alphabetical order at this point. At a time when visions of 1967 and 1945 are still alive and well, at least for us dreamers, we go game by game and predict the score of each contest on the 2018 slate. What could possibly go wrong? INDIANA 24 FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL 20 (1-0) An effective passing game and takeaways help the Hoosiers survive on the road. INDIANA 27 VIRGINIA 17 (2-0) The Cavaliers don’t have…
After more than nine months of speculating, wondering and waiting, Indiana University football is back for its 134th all-time season. The Hoosiers open the 2018 season with their third meeting in the last four seasons against Florida International. IU won the previous two contests. With Florida International’s home stadium only seating 20,000, it shouldn’t be a raucous home environment — at least not compared to what IU faces in the Big Ten. Moreover, with the Hoosiers having 23 players hailing from the Sunshine State and a strong local alumni base, a decent percentage of the crowd should be pro-IU. INDIANA…
The legend of Anthony Thompson was growing in Indiana before he ever stepped foot in Bloomington. Stories were circulating of a running back out of Terre Haute that would go entire games without ever hitting the ground. Legends are just that, but by the time he arrived at IU in 1986, the expectations were sky high for Thompson. Let’s just say this — Anthony Thompson didn’t disappoint anyone. Thirty years after his IU playing days were over, virtually every Hoosier fan knows who you are talking about merely by saying his initials — “A.T.” Thompson had an immediate impact during…
We saved the best for last with our 2018 positional previews. Indiana has built something of a reputation in recent years for producing high caliber offensive linemen, with Dan Feeney and Jason Spriggs at the top of the list. The Hoosiers were relatively young up front in 2017 and struggled at times to establish the run behind a line that was hit hard with injuries. The silver lining was that not just starters but multiple tiers on the depth chart got experience — and they are all back. Now the Hoosiers are fully healthy and returning 12 guys, most of…
